Big miles
« on: 17 January 2010, 11:40:19 »

Been looking at a diesel Omega advertised without the mileage so emailed and the reply.............345000 on the clock.
What are the 2.5td good for or what sort of mileage is the most seen on one?
Just curious now.

I think that is pretty much the top end of what I have heard of.......

As for how far they will go on for, that depends on at what point it becomes uneconomic to keep repairing it......

Money no object, any car will last forever.........

All of my vauxhalls have been high milers and never had a problem,as long as you look after em and keep on top with the repairs,i dont see a reason why they wont keep going past that milage. ;)

Thats all good and well if you've owned them from almost new but if they've had 345000 neglected miles your wallets in for some hammer :(

Sorry but FAR too expensive!!!!!

£1000 for an X reg with 345000 on the clock.....??

Many more X platers around with a fraction of the miles of that one for about a grand or less......

Wouldn't touch it tbh
 ;) ;)

I suppose the best way to look at it is that its not been clocked!

Would be getting the price a fair bit lower than being asked, purely on the mileage, but, you nevver know, perhaps its got a bootfull of service receipts and stuff showing an immaculate service regime...

...ok, mebbey not then....     ;D

If it's had a strict service regime then there is no reason why the engine/box shouldn't be pulling it's weight, albeit if it will be getting slightly tired.

However at 345K, the rest of the running gear is probably a knats earhole away from being f**ked.

Unless it's £150 with some tax & test on it, walk away.

Or it has been replaced a few times.

Might be worth a bit more - there is £100s worth of door mirrors alone on the car.

Whatever it is worth Martin (be it to drive or break for spares), it sure as hell isn't worth anywhere near £1000 with that amount on the clock mate.
