Omega General Help / Dipstick tube
« on: 07 October 2007, 13:07:22 »
Anyone know how the dipstick tube comes out of the V6?
Tube is loose and spins around but don't want to come out. Yes I'm trying to get to the "awkward" manifold stud.

Tools

Selection of metric sockets, spanners etc including cranked ringer for adjusters

Omega General Help / Changing Cats
« on: 07 November 2006, 14:08:00 »
Anybody got any tips on swapping the cats on a V6?
How difficult is it with only ramps/ axle stands availible?
Just been quoted £270+vat for the pair fitted, so would it be worth getting them done by a garage or is it easy enough to do myself on the street?

Newbie Welcome Area / Getting an avatar on the forum.
« on: 08 February 2011, 21:49:35 »
It seems that many members have mastered the posting of images on the forum via Photobucket but still struggle when it comes to using their own custom avatar.
The two are very similar tasks but have to be done slightly differently depending what you want the picture to do. So if you can post a picture on the forum, you can add an avatar.
First of all find the picture you want as an avatar on your computer, if the picture is on a webpage right click and save it to your computer.
Next open Photobucket and log into your PB account.

Now log in to your forum account click User CP, then Profile, then options.
You should be asked to confirm your forum password.
Type it in and click the confirm password button.

Now check one of your posts and your shiny new avatar should be there for all to see.

General Car Chat / Corsa C MAF sensor readings
« on: 08 August 2010, 19:05:02 »
Just been playing with a Corsa C, the little 3 cylinder 1.0 sewing machine jobbies.
Idle is a little rough, and on looking at live data the MAF is showing 0kg/m airflow at idle (c1000RPM) but shows a value when the engine is revved.
Unplugging the MAF seems to drop idle to around 650 and improves smoothness somewhat so anyone know if it should show no airflow at idle or is that figure normal for these engines?

General Car Chat / Geometry and aircon done at last.
« on: 25 June 2009, 17:36:46 »
Seeing as the Gnome was given the afternoon off from college he has mithered me to get some work done on the car.
First geometry, phoned up Nigel Langs in town and was told "Yes we can do it now." So off we went.
A couple of phone cam pictures.

and the before and after printout.

Then I decided to have a ride to the aircon man I spoke to last week to arrange for him to do a regas.
We got there and he was just finishing off a Volvo but in 10 minutes was free.

System pressure tested with nitrogen, vacced out and refilled with refrigerant, oil & dye in about an hour.

So quite a productive afternoon all in all.

General Car Chat / Rebooted the mig today.
« on: 18 June 2009, 17:47:03 »
As all four tyres warranted an advisory on the MOT the other week I've just had a set of Prestivos put on.
Apparently they are made by Yokohama and seem to get quite reasonable reports on various forums.
£295 fitted & balanced.
Anyone used them before?
