Title: Reading Meet No. 9 - Not in Reading Though
Post by: mike213735 on 05 April 2009, 20:56:54
Due to holidays and other meets, I reckon we need to get another meet in pretty quickly.
We have previously met in Reading but have received several complaints about traffic. People have suggested the Lord Derby Pub in North Warnborough, so here goes:-

Date: 25th April
Time: 12.00pm
Venue: Lord Derby Pub, Bartley Heath, North Warnborough, Hook, Hampshire, RG29 1HD.

I have spoken to some (well one) member and we are looking to make meet no. 10 a camping trip at the end of May (Bank Holiday) and this will be discussed at meet 9.

You know the drill......copy and paste.

I'm not sure about repairs. Would have thought it a bit awkward as it's only a pub. I don't get cheap parts, you need to find a trade club card holder.

Any one of our previous meets would have been ideal for your repairs, but this one is at a different venue due to popular demand. It'll be interesting to see what a difference moving the venue makes (apart from Marti and Rob having to travel half the distance).

Thanks
Mike

Just been to the Lord Derby (I have a rare day off) to have a look and the first thing that struck me is how small it is. Also, I couldn't see a car park other than a bit of a forecourt outside.
I am not sure about the weekends, but there was a bit of parking at the roadside we could use.

Has anyone been there? Do they have a bigger car park around the back?

Thanks
Mike

Hi all,

My family would like to come to this meet and have a meal in the pub. However, Debbie is at work til 2pm.
Any chance we can make the new time 2pm and you all stand about chatting and we eat after I get there at about 3pm?
I don't want you lot finishing your meal as I arrive :(

Paul (VX1) won't be there til about 2pm anyway....

So, if you're all in agreement, the new time is 2pm with an aim to eat at say 3.30pm?

Thanks
Mike

Unfortunately guy's and gal's I am not going to be able to make this one due to lack of funds (totally skint) also going away at the end of the month over the bank holiday so need to keep hold of the pennies and pounds. It's a shame I have to miss this one as you all know I am one of the 'usual suspects', but don't worry I will be at the next one. Don't forget the many pics as well.

I just want to confirm a couple of things.

1) This meet is still on
2) The venue has changed to the address below. We only moved it to the Lord Derby as a few people said they would come if we did, and they are not anyway.
3) The new venue is
The Cunning Man, Burghfield Road, Burghfield Bridge, Reading, RG30 3BR.
4) Date is still 25th April
5) I won't be able to get there until about 2.30-3pm so can we make the new time 2pm?

Thanks
Mike

Thanks and see you all next Saturday.

He hasn`t touched mine since New Year (i think) Last time he walked past it on the drive and kicked the tyre doesn`t count (that was when goldie was the only 3.2 :P )
Sorry to be an outsider, I`m not gonna spend a day cleaning my car.. only going there for lunch  ;)

Junction 11 Andy. If you come of at 11 then turn left and head towards basingstoke (A33), First roundabout turn right (Grazeley) then take second left and just follow it all the way.You will come to a set of traffic lights, go throught the lights (when on green) over the bridge and just follow. Eventually you come to the end of the road and turn right, follow for about 1/3 of a mile Cunning man comes up on the left. :y

Just to let everyone know If anyone is going to be doing oil changes in the future BUT doesn't have any oil yet then I have a box of oil 10/40 semi-synthetic. Now I use this in my car and have no problems at all good oil and to manufactures spec £20 the box.
So first to come and see me gets it. One time offer only

Well, that was a great meet, I think it was 9 cars in total, 10 if you include my dads Nissan Terrano. RobseyMV6's parents came, my parents came, my wife and kids and AndyCDXV6's family came too.

A great meet and no spanners left their toolbox, just a chat, meal and a drink.

Roll on no. 10.... A "cruise" to the coast. Watch the meet section for further info.

Thanks
Mike
