damned stereo
« on: 25 December 2013, 12:13:38 »

Hello all and merry xmas! a couple of years back i retro fitted a double din stereo to the mig and now have decided it's crap and wanted to put the old one back in, on the top of the old one is marked with  what i supposed was the code 1628 but when i put it in it carries on in safe mode i have 7 attempts left is there anywhere i can check this code or is it dealer only, i know the dealers here will sting me for the code as they do absolutely nothing for nothing!.

UK (Vauxhall) cars come with a "car pass" - a piece of card the size of a credit card. The code for the factory fitted radio is on that card.

I assume that Opel use the same system :-\

The carpass only has the code for the originally factory fitted system, so if its been changed...

AFAIK, Vauxhall (and presumably Opel) cannot decode radios, they usually send off to the likes of Dave DND (a member here).

Given your location, it may not be viable to ship stereo to Dave DND.

I will move this post to Electrical section, hopefully Dave DND will see it (else send him a PM), but may be worth updating with what stereo it is :y

If its NCDC, I can decode if you send me a small part from it.

Hi it's a ccr 2005, i've decided on a new pair of speakers as one of my old ones died (infinity reference) i have no idea why, they are rated at 90rms and i was only using them with a 4x50 head unit, so now i've decided to re-do the speakers and put na amp in at the same time as the head unit struggled to power the infinity's so i'm in the process of studying  what to put in, the original stereo i've decided to leave out and stick with my aftermarket one

the cdr2005 is pretty dire for sound quality, along with the cdr500, the worst that was fitted

Yeah the 2005's are shite, a replacement H/U can do wonders with standard speakers

If going to the expense of a new HU, worth getting some better speakers as well, IMHO. Omega speakers were adequate for the HUs fitted, but they have all had 10yrs of bongo abuse since then...

yes i had fitted infinty references but one of them has died hence looking at upgrading the whole system, will keep the pioneer h/u i have and hopefully add an amp as the h/u was having trouble driving the speakers (90rms)

Please keep us posted on what you decide to fit, pictures would be good too.

When I bought my car 3 years ago it had a CCR2006 with BOSE. The sound was stunning but I got fed up with not having DAB radio (and the stupid 4 disc cartridge that won't come out when the gear selector is in park  ::) )

I fitted a Blaupunkt DAB53 and standard Omega 4 ohm speakers. It works fine but it is obvious that the speakers are feeble compared to the BOSE ones :(
