To a certain degree, it will stop some asking what model it is if they know a little bit about them

Swapped the n/s front wheel for the spare so I can get the tyre swapped for the new one due to arrive tomorrow.
That tyre / wheel has always lost a couple of psi a week (approx.) and the tyre has worn very unevenly.
I was shocked (and disappointed in my self ) to find it is actually showing cords on the outside of the tread. Not sure losing air would cause a tyre to wear so badly on just the outside edge, so it looks like wheel alignment will have to be done.  ::)

I never had a car before or since my Omega, with the ability to shred a tyre in short order like an Omega can.  :-\  ::)

tyres down on PSI do wear on the outer edge
tyres overinflated wear on the centre of the tread.
you don't necessarily NEED a "full alignment" either ,since there's little to  gain.
front only alignment on a Hunter Hawkeye local to me was about £35 and showed the rear measurements anyway  :)

Useful to know. Although I would have expected both outer edges of the tyre, rather than just one ?
The tyre is probably around four years old, but probably not much more than 10,000 miles.
Full alignment was last done about 5 years ago, so may just have it done to see if all is ok.
Will try and cure the slow loss of pressure first though. Just hope it isnt a porous rim.

If you are losing pressure and the tyre is scrubbing down on the edge, it may be that you've hit a pothole, knocked the alignment out and slightly bent the rim.  :-\

When I took my Mondeos rims to the refurb place, it was clear how out of shape one of them was when he span it on the machine.  :(

Or jack it up and rotate the wheel by hand, and rig up a bit of stiff bent wire to point at the rim, soo see how pissed it is.

More tricking if you have an LSD, obviously.

Shoulder wear is normal if you corner the car hard.

Inner shoulder wear points to a camber issue...

Jack the car, note the position of the strut bolts and slacken them. The tighten the top bolt by hand until it's just tight and pull the top of the disc out (if the top bolt is just right, you should be able to pull the top of the disc without it settling back inboard),. Then nip up the bottom bolt. Retorque both bolts and compare the new bolt position.

It might take a bit of trial and error to get it visually right and it will tweak the tracking, but it should save the new tyre from going the same way, but it's no substitute for a decent alignment  ;)

V8GFY >:D

The V8 engine, be it stuffed in a Monaro or supercharged Jag, is a wonderful thing. >:D >:D

The New Mercedes C63 is now fitted a 2 litre 4 pot lump. Apparently it is a slow seller and I can understand why. :-\
