Qualcast classic 35S problem
« on: 02 October 2020, 11:37:36 »

I have a Qualcast classic 35s petrol mower circa 1996 which I am currently renovating. All was going well and having purchased and fitted a scarifier cartridge managed to scarify one lawn when I heard an afwul mechanical screeching from the drive area. Having removed the side cover I discovered that the spindle for the pink cog had become detached from its mounting plate which appears to be welded to the casing and therefore no access to the rear of the spindle mounting. Any suggestions on how to remedy this problem as I don't want to dump the machine having spent so much time and money so far?

Will have to look at mine but I thought that pinion was mounted on a little lever that's moved by the bowden cable from the handle, so maybe that could be dismantled and removed from the machine?

There is good parts support for these so if you've got time to do a bit of disassembly / reassembly work I'm sure it can be fixed.
