Site slow to load pages ??
« on: 23 October 2020, 13:27:17 »

Is it just me or is the site slow to load pages today ?? Get a blank screen and "connecting" for around 12-15 seconds before a page displays. Don't think its me or the VPN as all otehr sites seem to work normally.

Just a heads up for TB really ...

Still trying to fathom this out .. and to help TB if I can ...

Using the "console" setting in Chrome ... no errors listed and it works well

Using the "console" setting in edge and there are 6 errors listed .... not that I understand any of them, hope this is of some use ......

The static files, including the js files are served from an external hosting provider, that will always be slower than content served from here.  Static content should have a reasonable cache time, so for the most part nobody notices.

Looks like yesterday, our host on the shared hosting platform might have had a couple of outages - something that is getting more and more common.

The other killer is in many cases the js files will go through your local AV scanner in most cases, and the bloaty ones may take a while to process it.

Lastly, don't use aVPN unless you absolutely need to - that adds another layer of failure (and performance degradation) for precisely zero gain.
