MOT failure for broken door handle?
« on: 05 August 2009, 01:51:31 »

Hi, front passenger door handle on my car snapped of months ago and i was going to buy one off a member here but forgot all about it, got used to opening door for SWMBO from inside so it doesn't bother me anymore since i normally drive alone.
However a neighbor said he thinks the car will fail its MOT for this, whilst its not due for a while would be nice to know so i can fix it soon if i have to
Thanks, Alex

Without even reading the link, it's a fail. Rear doors don't have to open IIRCC but fronts must open from inside and out.

In addition I'd advise getting it sorted ASAP as it's a bit of a danger... Imagine if you had an accident and weren't able to operate the handle from inside :o :o :o

Extreme situation I know but.... Bears a little thought :y :y

Ah thanks, guess i had better ask someone if they have one then.
Actually strangely for the past 2 years the car didn't fail on this but the door handle didn't open the door unless you pulled it ridiculously hard so i would have thought they would have failed it for that.

Perhaps the tester was just heavy handed so it seemed normal to him.
