General Discussion Area / Punch Tavern Muppets and my Towed MV6
« on: 14 November 2009, 14:31:41 »
One of my local Pubs, which I’ve been using for years now, is owned by Punch Taverns. I frequent the Pub on a regular basis and it’s not uncommon for me to leave my Car overnight, get a Taxi home all with the permission of the landlord.

This happened a couple of days back, however when I went to retrieve the Car, it was missing, went in to the Pub and asked the usual questions, no landlord around, and was told by staff that it was probably taken under a new scheme that was introduced a few days earlier by Punch Taverns, see pic.

Left numerous messages on the answer phone of the Towing Company, no replies, went back later to speak to the landlord later and was told nothing to do with him as he didn’t know that the Car belonged to me.

Got a voice mail this morning from the Towing Company saying the Car was removed because it wasn’t displaying a ‘Permission to Park’ in the window and that both the Clamp fee and Towing fee is payable together with the Daily Storage fee and the Car will not be released until full payment is met.

Tried ringing the Towing Company again, No Answer, Answering Machine. Probably going to have to wait now till Monday Morning.

In the Process of trying to contact the landlord, no, joy will probably have to wait till this evening.

Any Thoughts?

Chris (Now missing one of my MV6’s)  >:(

General Discussion Area / My AntiVirus is going mad when on OOF?

As above, just started doing it, pops up every 10 seconds

HTML/Crypted.Gen - Malware, Type: Trojan

Description:
To avoid detection by antivirus software, authors of HTML malware use browser features like Java and VisualBasic Script. These scripts are small and very often quite simple encryption routines hiding the malicious parts of the script. Encrypted malware is detected as HTML/Crypted.Gen.

Any ideas why?

Anyone recommend a good File Download Manager / Accelerator, main reason is currently using 3g/HSDPA at moment so Windows one is a bit of a pain when the connection is lost (i.e. something that continues downloading the File on next connection).

Used to use Star Downloader for quiet a few years without probs, but Vista doesn’t seem to like it.

General Discussion Area / How good is your Maths?

Three guys go in to a restaurant to have something to eat, finish their food then ask for the Bill.
Waiter brings the Bill leaves it on the table and walks away, The Bill comes to £25.
Each Guy produces a £10 note and puts their Note with the Bill (£30).
The Waiter picks up the money takes it to the Till and brings back their change, 5 x £1 coins (£5).
The three Guys decide to share the cost of the food between them and leave a tip for the waiter. They each pick up a £1 coin and leave a £2 tip for the waiter.
The three Guys leave the restaurant and the Waiter pockets the £2.

Now if each of the three Guys has put in £10 each and have each taken £1 back that means that they have each paid £9 for their meal (£10 - £1 is £9) and the Waiters happy with his 2 quid tip, correct so far.

Now do the Maths, If each of the Guy’s have paid £9 for their meal, then 3 x £9 is £27, plus the £2 tip equates to £29 !, where’s the other pound gone?

General Discussion Area / Those wonderful Vodafone people
« on: 23 October 2009, 17:54:20 »
Talk about does the left hand know what the right hands doing!!

To cut a long story short(ish), I need to explain the next bit for it all to make sense.

A couple of months back I had a miss hap with my Vodafone Data card, in as much letting my Son use it during the holidays resulted in a £800 bill from Vodafone for data usage, anyway after a lot chats with Vodafone and because I’m a nice bloke (been with them for 20 years), Vodafone decided to give me a slap on the wrist and credit all £800 back to the normal £15pm for the Data Tariff, nice people I thought.

Get a call from Vodafone today telling me my 12 month Voice tariff is finished and would I like to renew for another 12 months and get some cash back or a new Mobile. Now I need to point out a this point that I’m on a really good deal with them, get just about free everything plus a 67% discount off my £30 monthly bill, so when I normally renew every 12 months, I don’t qualify for a new phone (low spend) but get £50 credit to the account which to be honest I’m happy with considering I only end paying about £140 per year anyway plus the -50 quid.

So the VodaGirl goes on about renewing for another 12 months, same Tariff, same Deal blah, blah and asks me do I wont a new Mobile or £175 cash back?, a bit speechless I ask what’s the catch!, there isn’t one she say’s we base the reward on your tariff and your last 3 months spend, so your on £30pm and last 3 months spend has been about £875.

Now thinking she's not taking into account my monthly discount or the fact they’ve already credited my account £800 for the Data Card mess up!

Asking her what phone I can have, she offered me a new 12mega pixel Sony Ericson Satio which is worth £325 or the £175 credit to the account. Which would you like?

Now think you know where this is going, I’m also thinking if I don’t do this now, it’s not going to come up again. So, new mobile is being delivered Monday. Te he

Probably my own fault I know, but gave my Oldest Son my Vodafone Data Card to use over the Summer Holidays. Got the Bill yesterday, 500 quid from July and 175 unbilled for August when I checked with them.  :o

I normally pay £12 plus Vat, for 3 GB monthly allowance, had it around 3 years now and hardly ever use it unless I’m on the road. My Son's managed to clock up over 97 GB of data just for July, at some point according to the Vodafone Data Team He's been streaming Games and Videos at 12 Mbps continuously. It took Vodafone nearly 3 Hours to download the Data sessions for July, The Guy said he's never seen anything like it.

Vodafone are saying I’ve exceeded the Fair Use Policy and the Bill needs paying, I'm sort of arguing that if the Fair Usage Policy has been exceeding that they should have informed me to cut down the usage rather than just send me the Bill. >:(

Don't think I’m going to win this one, any ideas??

Out last night in the MV6 in Chingford, went round a corner, Bang! Dirty great big hole in the road filled with water that I didn't see.

Went back this morning to take some photo's of the hole, they've already filled it in.  >:(

Driving around now with that stupid 50 mph black wheel, not happy.

Dont suppose anyone’s got a Facelift 17" MV6 wheel lying around for sale? :y

Some ones giving me a set of these, which he had lying arround.

Its the type were you insert the key at the end of the Bars and the end pops out with a piece of steel rod attacthed then the clamp moves along the Bar.

So, must be having a low IQ day, as I cant seem to get them to lock up on the estates bars, no matter what I do, what am I doing wrong?  >:(
