General Discussion Area / I don't believe he just said that.
« on: 24 April 2018, 16:59:16 »
Watching a teatime game show some guy has just answered the following question with the answer "black rhino"

Which animal has an elongated wrist bone which it uses as a thumb to help eat it's food ?
Doh!  ;D
Giant panda is the answer which was one of the answers provided he could have chosen.

General Car Chat / Oh the joy ....
« on: 16 April 2018, 17:43:22 »
of omega ownership. The elite estate has only been back on the road for a week after it's winter break and it's showing the signs of abs ecu failure (intermittent tc , abs light on and no speedo) I've got a spare in the shed but what a gigantic PITA of a job it is to change >:(

General Car Chat / EBay Omega's
« on: 02 April 2018, 07:09:19 »
Lots of pre-facelift Omegas on the bay at the moment including a "rare" but probably the most reliable if a bit underpowered model of the breed an 8v Select model. :D

I know it's a cliche but this is genuinely a shame because it has the most rust free shell I've seen on an Omega.
However it's got a noisy bottom end (piston slap?) and lacquer peel mainly on the bonnet and a bit on the roof and although I have a spare x30xe block and a much better bonnet I don't have the time or space so it's gotta go in bits.

everything is available bar the engine top end (have plans for that) and MFD unreadable. :)
so a few for starters
Gearbox £250 collected
Complete Grey cloth interior (heated front seats) VGC  £75 collected
ABS ecu £45 inc.p&p

colour is Z549 satin red.
anything else just ask
Thanks John.

General Car Chat / Jag XF
« on: 17 January 2018, 20:26:31 »
Been looking at XF's on autotrader and out of the 3123 currently listed only 222 are petrol even less if you want an estate.  :( don't like diesels.

Omega General Help / fixed rear door glass removal
« on: 17 October 2017, 14:29:09 »
need to replace a broken glass on one of the estates and according to Mr haynes you need to remove the drop glass, regulator and rails first before sliding the fixed glass forward and out.All seems a bit of a faff is there an easier way?
Cheers John.

General Car Chat / Hyundai non start
« on: 12 September 2017, 11:34:27 »
trying to help out a neighbour with his 04 getz 1.3.
it turns over but wont fire up,I've checked the fuel supply to the rail and it's not getting any.The fuel pump is working when connected direct to 12v but not when the ign. is switched/cranked.
I'm thinking an immobiliser fault as it seems a common on hyundai's of that era to bypass the block connector and solder the wires directly together.(high resistance)
Another thing is when I connect my ODB2 adapter you can hear it trying to connect(noises from fuse/relay box under bonnet) but then gets kicked out with no communication with the ecu.(worked before on it when clearing a spurious management code)
Anyone else have any thoughts.
Cheers John.

General Discussion Area / Grand Prix 60's film
« on: 10 September 2017, 16:30:22 »
Just caught the end of the film on Bbc2 this afternoon and don't mind admitting the scene where the Ferrari team boss puts out the black flag out to retire the rest of his team after his lead driver crashes out and dies brought a lump to my throat.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / rear electric windows
« on: 26 August 2017, 20:19:11 »
I've got a pair of unrusty rear doors to fit onto the Tourer which as standard has keep kit rear windows and my question is does the loom that comes from the b pillar/sill area have the extra wires to allow electric operation if used with the correct console and door switches?
Thanks John.
