Omega General Help / Car sluggish in Auto and several dash lights on
« on: 10 December 2006, 14:11:30 »
Hi,

I have a facelift 2000 MV6

Got in the car this morning and on starting it up, it nearly didn't make it as it's not been started for a week and it sounded a little weak for a few seconds. Once started all the lights didn't go off. I have acquired myself a TC light, an ABS light, A seatbelt/airbag light and an Immobiliser light. I turned off the stereo and found the windows were reluctant to open at first.

I stuck it in Auto and it was really sluggish, all the dials stayed at 0. I drove a long for a few miles and every so often the dials would leap into life and give me an accurate reading and then they would revert back to 0 again.

I didn't go far from home and on the return journey I tried Sports option manual gear change and the car was infinitely more responsive the way it would normally feel, I still had all the same problems, lights on the dash flashing on and off intermittently and dials jumping into life occasionaly.

What on earth is going on?

Any help would be really appreciated, there is no way I can handle a large bill right now, could this just be something electrical that is loose?

Cheers

Omega General Help / Help! Bonnet release lever has gone floppy
« on: 10 December 2006, 15:32:43 »
Hi,

Worst day ever. Not only do I have this problem on my 2000 facelift MV6 http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1165759890 but on going out to the car to have a nose under the bonnet and check everything was pushed in I pulled the bonnet release lever, there was some resistance as normal but when I pulled it further for it to "catch" it just went loose and now it wobbles around all slack. I can't get under the bonnet to investigate my slightly more important problem.

Please tell me this is a common problem that can be easily fixed...for free.

Thanks

Omega General Help / Bad drivers and new glass for mirror
« on: 29 September 2006, 18:05:55 »
Some person took my wing mirror off this afternoon and I didn't see it happen, only my mirror on the ground, was fine an hour previously. No doubt some half baked mother on the local school pickup. No note left of course (am I the only person who would do that these days????).

The mirror casing has taken some scratches and dents but it's in one piece, the wires are still together and the plastic clips all work. The glass is smashed into smithereenes and needs replacing.

Anyone got an idea of cost? Can I just replace the glass or do I need to do the whole thing.

I'm fuming  >:(

Omega General Help / Alarm problem (no sound) and a suggestion
« on: 07 September 2006, 06:47:52 »
Hallo,

I asked this in the other place but thought it might get a better response here with it being omega only.

My facelift 2000 MV6, the alarm arms (or what I presume to be the alarm, I just mean the flashing light on the main console) but if I sit in the car and move around it goes off, the lights start going but nothing else, no sound.

I've searched through the forums but have yet to find a clear answer, it appears the Omega has 2 diff alarms an alarm and a powersounder, is this correct? What is the difference between the two?

I've located the scuttle, unfastened it on the drivers side and lifted it up. There is only one connection in there that I can see, I have removed and reseated it but no change, just lights flashing, nothing audible. What should I be doing next?

I have included a pic of my engine bay to help and I was wondering if maybe some of the more knowledgable members of the forum could make it into a bit of a template and mark all the frequently named bits on it? We could all use it as a reference item then, it would certainly help me and hopefully others like me who don't have a clue :)

It's in 2048x1536 so it might open slowly but there is plenty of room for text.

Newbie Welcome Area / Now then, i've come aboard
« on: 06 September 2006, 20:28:54 »
Hallo all,

Just thought I'd pop in here and do the pleasantries thing.

I've just bought a 2000 facelift 3.0 MV6 in silver (ex plod), an absolute bargain I reckon at £1650 with 111k on it. It's super lush and I'm keen to work a bit of magic on it and replace a few bits here and there and learn about keeping it trouble free with some DIY maintenance. Hopefully I've come to the right place, you were recommended.

Oh and I live in south east London.

Cheers
