3.2 Battery
« on: 11 June 2012, 11:06:23 »

Hi guys, earlier posts suggest 85AH battery 93197903 for my 3.2. Local stealer says it is now 65AH 93189923 for the 3.2, and in any case the bigger one would not be on TC. I have PM'd AndyC to see if he can shed light on this. Any thoughts? :y

65AH sounds about right.

My local dealer gave me a bigger battery (not sure if that was the 85ah) that didnt fit when they went off my registration.

I can get a 93189923 65AH from VX on TC for £65.35, 3yr warranty, or one from Halfords on TC for £62.89, 4 yr warranty. Any thoughts? The Halford's one appeals for the warranty.

I personally have never seen a Halfords one last the warranty period.  So keep your receipt safe and handy if thats the route you go down.

I'd go for Go, although they aren't always the best.  But its what I'm using now.

Sorry, GM 'Go' - GM's 'aftermarket' range of batteries.

I've just noticed while working on daughter's MG TF that it has a Halford's HB065 which is what they recommend for my 3.2, so I don't think I'll be getting one of those, it just looks too small. I am picking the 3.2 up later today from the paint shop so I'll compare size then. :y

Is the cranking power listed on this one? Is it GM? :y

To add to my post above, I have the 65ah GM battery in my 3.2, I was initially given a bigger battery which was too big to fit the tray. I believe this may have been for Plod vehicles. I have had the battery for a year and no problems.

The battery I had originally was GO branded and it was rated slightly higher (may have been 75 or 85ah) but as said no issues with new battery.

Mine has an OEM (not "GO") GM battery in (can't believe it's original, but perhaps?) and it's a 65Ah, IIRC.

Capacity isn't so much of an issue (you don't need even 1Ah to start the engine) but the cranking current capability is.
