There are plenty of old tools on here!  :)
Takes one to know one  ;D

Do you have a favourite tool?

For years it was an old pair of mole grips. But now a snarling smoky 2 stroke chainsaw has now taken it's place. :y
I have a woodsaw which is quite charismatic, but not as gorgeous as my circular saw  ;D

The first time I fitted a kitchen (20+ years ago) I treated myself to a Skilsaw Classic. Still makes me smile whenever I fire it up. Goes through any wooden board like a knife through butter. :-*

The CAA.

What a bunch of self-abusers.  They insist that, as a model aircraft and drone flyer, I register with them so they can contact me etc, but then never bother contacting anybody about there latest proposals that make Orwell's 1984 seem like Little House on the Prairie.

Bureaucratic broken Britain...  ::)

It's what we voted for... apparently!  ;D
This is yet another example of the utter balls-up that BREXIT is. Mostly likely due to external political pressure to ensure we are not following the EU, the very first EU rule that came in exactly the same time BREXIT happened was abandoned by the CAA, leading them to run around in circles with unworkable, nonsensical rules.  A glimmer of hope is that they seem to realise what a monumental balls up they have made, and sort of want to suggest aligning mostly with EASA, but can't be seen doing so without losing face.

Oh you're so easy to trigger!  ;D

I doubt it's anything to do with BREXIT to be honest and they're just seeing if you're diverse enough.  ::)  :)

The CAA are bad enough. If EASA were involved he'd know about it. ;D

This is their speciality. Note, that's run around in circles, not fly, because the latter would require a modicum of knowledge on how aeroplanes work.  ::)

About 10 years ago, they decided we all needed licences to fly gliders to harmonise with Europe (well, actually there are about 3 different kinds of licence, no idea why).

A lot of pilots spent a load of money getting all the required medical endorsements and other bits of paper to allow them to do the same things they did before. Some left the hobby because they had medical conditions that make it impossible to get the new gold-plated license. Then the CAA kicked the can down the road and extended the deadline.. And again... And again... I think the next date when they're due to kick the can down the road again is 30th September 2025.  ;D

I fell asleep and only saw the beginning and the end, which was enough to get the gist of it all.  :)

I did enjoy the following youtube vid though which was an episode of Harry's Garage and he took his 16 year old L322 Range Rover to visit a neighbouring farmer who happened to have an almost identical Range Rover. It was Jeremy Clarkson.  ;D

Two old blokes chatting about Range Rovers was surprisingly entertaining and I managed to stay awake!   :y

I enjoyed that too  :y :y

I wouldn't mind Harry's XJC V12 ......  ;) ;)

Converted to a 5 speed manual if memory serves.

Yes .... He spent some serious money on it though. IIRC he paid something like £5k or £6k on it in the first place but spent about £70k in total ... and then a bit more on the fuel injection.

But Jags should be auto's  ::)

.. and they shouldn't really sound like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_GNk0Yn6lg

But I'm inclined to forgive him.  >:D

I think the record we saw in France was a motorway services near the chunnel offering SP95 for €2.25/L. Elsewhere it was around the 1.90 mark. :o

I've spent the last 2 weeks driving in France and it's demonstrated what a disgrace the UK's road system is.

Sensible 130 kph speed limit except where there's a good reason for it not to be.
Drivers who get out of the offside lanes unless they're actually passing slower traffic.
No potholes, even on the rural roads.
No dawdlers.

Came off the tunnel last night straight into 15 miles of 50 MPH average speed limit for no apparent reason other than to protect some traffic cones, and a road surface that would probably lose you your fillings if taken any faster. Loads of idiots trundling along in the central lanes oblivious of being passed by faster traffic on both sides.  >:(

This is how a car should sound.

Jag V8. :y

Why do European V8s make such a horrible noise? And why is there so much of it, especially at low RPM? The spitting and backfiring on over run is even more annoying. My Sunbeam Ti used to do it until I repaired the stripped exhaust studs.

Ditto my Westfield until I mapped it properly. Still, the ego-massage option is an important one these days... ;)

Lexus / Toyota is to be expected really. They have long had a reputation for reliability. Bit Mini in joint third ? ! Do me a favour.  ;D

I can't decide if those tables reflect the reliability of the cars or the expectations of those who typically purchase them!

One of my colleagues has an Insignia the same age and mileage as my jag.  I reckon he has a major "standing by the roadside"  breakdown about every 6 weeks. Vauxhakls clearly aren't what they were.

That that useless Scottish idiot knob jockey Ian Callum used JLR's normal quick release system on the coolant bottle to make the job quick and easy, only to surround it with other hoses so its near impossible to remove the bloody thing.

I'd love to meet that self-abuser.

Isn't he a designer, responsible for how the car looks and not the nitty-gritty of where mechanical bits go?
If it's true, I'm terribly sorry to spoil your rant with germane information.... 8)

If it wasn't for him they'd probably have carried on trying to sell Mondaguars and be in an even worse state today.

It's a crock of shite.  Trying to think of something positive to say, and struggling.  I guess millennials will like it, as 2/3rds of the glovebox manual goes into depth about how to get facetwit on the screen.  But didn't mention how to turn on the mirror demisters - I had to Google that one.  And the volume control.  What pillock thought that was a good idea, hidden the wrong side of the gearstick on the gearbox tunnel.  And so ultra responsive it only allows mute and full volume.

And talk about as flat as a witches tit...

A3s are kinda like a Golf, but for those who aren't quite charismatic enough to carry off Golf ownership. ;D
Its for people that don't do English.

"Drive System Active. Please turn off ignition"

WTF does that mean?

Makes it sound much more impressive than the bland FWD shitbox it is, though. ;)

A chicken mayo baguette from Greggs where most of the filling was on the outside of the sandwich to make it look like there was loads, but as I tried to eat it most of the chicken smothered in mayo ended up in my lap!  >:(

Being the responsible sort I had to pull over to eat it safely.  :-X  ::)  :D

I was waiting for Mrs. KW outside a clothes shop on Farnham high street on Saturday when some total soap-dodger who'd clearly been on the booze came up to me and said "Oy, mate! Where's Greggs?".

I explained that I didn't think that there was one in Farnham... ;D
