The later 289 4.7 litre lump should be better. Detuned Cobra lump, I think.

That's better in the way that a 1300 crossflow is better than an 1100.
They used the basic, off the shelf Ford V8 that was always intended for boring everyday cars and trucks. There's nothing special, let alone magical, about these things.

Had a 1500cc Hunter saloon in fetching metallic bronze, which hid the rust to a certain degree. I also had a 1750cc estate in flame red as a load lugger. Quite liked them TBF.

I think you're out by a factor of 2. It's the people who were 18 when the cars were new that will be interested in them now.

I always wanted a TR6. I still want a TR6........but the youth of today wouldn't be seen dead  in one...... 99% won't even know what a TR6 is.

I've not driven or even sat in one. It would probably feel slow and vintage in 2022 with the steering wheel close to the drivers chest.

I just like the the looks and the sound they make.

8.5 seconds to sixty was pretty potent in 1969 so it should be able to stick with modern traffic. Anyway, I can't afford one.

I have driven a couple of standard road cars and a competition version which had a hell of lot of money spent on it.
They were all hideous things to drive, and a new bog standard average hatchback would leave one for dead on any road you care to choose.
I would take the 8.5 to 60 with a very large pinch of salt by the way.

You should take any posted 0-60 time with a pinch of salt, because nobody is going to match those with their own car. Or any car they might have to pay for.

I agree, but the claimed 0-60 of the TR6 stretches credibility as much as Fords claimed  power output figures for the Essex V6 did.
