We're having our kitchen tarted up a bit ... new worktops etc. The fitter put the induction hob in the garage out of the way .... he's just come in - 'can I show you something?'
He's just put one of the new worktops on top of it & broken it!!!! They won't be making much in the way of a profit on the job now. Just looked at an equivalent replacement Neff hob ..... around £1000!

We fitted ours ourselves, and while it's all done to a high standard and looks great, it's been a year and it's still not fully finished. We made the mistake of moving everything back in once it was usable, and now it's hard to find time to finish the last few bits. At least when you get someone else to do it they'll get it done before you can start using your kitchen again

Thats often the case with anything, isn't it.  It gets finished to teh point of usability, and then becomes too busy/used to be able to complete the job

I don't understand the terminology.  What is a kitchen? Or hob?  Are they pink things?

The kitchen is where the parts washer lives. The hob is what you use to solder on and the worktop is where you pile stuff up ready for the parts washer

That would mean doing woodwork, tiling, painting etc to a standard that I could bear to look at. I'm crap at all of those things, so doing it myself would not be properly.
