I wonder how many people out there have chipped their cars, especially the guys with TD's? This could upset a lot of people  :o

Darn: Too slow, as usual ;D

Yes me! This may force me to change cars, I guess I'll have to look at a petrol version. BooHoo :'( :'( :'(

Annoyances with current Mv6  (ignoring the knackered shocks&wishbones, constant scraping of mud flaps and exhaust, )

it lacks the useful cubby hole shelving that the elite had in the boot.

the centre console cubby hole is tiny, all it will hold is my glasses.

the window controls are totally in the wrong place...   they do not fall under hand easily...  i have to  move my arm backwards and twist my wrist to operate the drivers door window.

it does seem to mist up more than my last one....  scuttle cleared, and so on...   but still does it.

the stereo has less functionality, and takes up twice the space....

Elite had phone, cassette, CD, radio,  & Sat Nav,  and you could connect an ipod via the tape player...

MV6 , no tape player, so no iPod,   and no phone....

and if i get a telematics....  bingo.... no glovebox....
the older arrangement definitely wins on a practicality basis.

and let's face it , the interior trim in general on the facelift lacks the "class" the MFL had....

acres of hard plastic VS leather .....  Hmmm...   difficult choice.... NOT....

i would be sorely tempted to replace most of a facelift interior with a pre-facelift....  (assuming it would fit)

(oh, and Senators ROCK!       but a well Sorted Senny A, was far nimbler and more "chuckable" than a Senny B.... for energetic A-B road driving...      but the B was smoother, and more stable at Very High Speed....  i covered a LOT of miles in both versions .....  and would love to still do so....    )

Just cancelled my MV6 order. ::) ::) ::)

Yes tried all of that.
It seems to be more apparent on the estate. It seems the only thing that really clears it is the air con, but i shouldn't really have to put it on to clear it, that is what the demisters for. I am not the only one with this problem as it has all been posted before thru various members

I've never had a problem with misting on my estate, it always clears v.quick. :y

Right well, for those who say that the horn is in a good position, I had a good look today, with hands in my normal driving position above the cross bar, the buttons are at least 4" away, hardly convenient. To put the buttons adjacent to thumbs, the hands have to be below the crossbar. Now come on chaps and chapesses, who can honestly say that is how they drive? :y
When I'm driving enthusiastically, yup, pretty close ;)

Sorry to be pedantic Jaimie, but 'pretty close' doesn't cut it. Are you saying that when you drive 'enthusiastically' your hands are, normally, below the crossbar? On the crossbar is almost impossible, if you want to feel that you can cope with blowouts or other emergencies. I tried both on the bar and below today, and both felt most unnatural to me. Perhaps I have  a different wheel. :-?
Its Jaime, or am I being pedantic :P

Anyway, when I go into 'enthusiastic' I tend to go to a 9/3 oclcok (thumbs just above spoke on Omega (and Rover as it happens)). I feel I have far more control, and then only need to adjust positions for tight (therefore slow) corners. Also, easier/quicker to apply emergency adjustments if the car loses stability.

I have a standard Omega wheel, and have in all my Omegas. Admittedly the one in the MV6 is very well worn ;D - which reminds me, must look for one in the For Sale section...

Yup, 'enjoyed' a blowout before when in full enthusiastic mode.  Actually, more than once ;D

Sorry Jaime :-[ :-* :-*

....... I wouldn't have another car in replacement of it, ......

You've not had a 24v Senator then?  ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D ;D
I will always feel pity for those poor souls who have not enjoyed that great pleasure Andy. :y :) ;D ;D

I'd still like another, but I couldn't do one justice -  I just don't have the garage space & it'd be a shame to have to leave it outside.  :(

Ouch!!! Mine has lived outside my double garage for 11 years! :-[

I am forced to assume it is an age thing - horn position that is - I still prefer it to be in a fixed, instinctively available, position, preferably in the wheel centre.

Amazingly, I can't think of any other real annoyances. Accessibility of some components in the engine bay perhaps, but other vehicles are far worse. :y

Hmm, well it is very interesting to see how many like the horn where it is, I can only assume that they steer as per F1 drivers, and don't move hands round the steering wheel much. I guess most of us do a mixture of both, but I never seem to have the horn immediately available to warn errant would be attackers.  :'(

The horn is where I expect it to be  :-/

I find that the buttons tend to move around in circles when I move the steering wheel. ::)  ::)
It'd have been far better if there had been a central horn push too .... like its predecessor had ;)  ;)  ;)
So, in a moment of rage, whilst swerving around trying to avoid some pillock, you want to remove one hand from the wheel to show your disgust :o

Nah, I think the location is good, right on the thumbs when driving enthusiastically ;).  Yes, buttons move with wheel, but so do thumbs ;)

And its the same on the Rover, so all my cars follow the same layout. Great minds, and all that ;)

I fimd it difficult under these circumstances to cross my arms more than twice, hence the hands tend to move around the wheel rim - unlike the horn buttons. ;)

The stupid positioning of the horn cost me my car as i couldn't find it as i saw someone pulling out in front of me >:(

That was exactly my original point, as the same happened to me 2 days ago, and is what prompted the thread. I was hoping someone would have come up with the comment that they had fitted one on a stalk or W.H.Y. in a fixed position, that would solve the problem. :-? :y

Edit: Although an accident was avoided by ABS use!

After 11 years, there is still only one thing that niggles me, and it is the position of the two small horn buttons, which are never in the right place when you want to shout at idiots.

Does anyone agree? Or have you got your own pet niggles? :y

General Car Chat / Mytyres
« on: 07 November 2010, 10:06:52 »
For the last few years I have been completely satisfied buying tyres on line, which invariably arrived within four or five days. Recently I bought two from Mytyres for SWMBO's Jazz, delivery date was not until 14 days after purchase, with differing excuses offered.

Has anyone else had problems recently with this company?
