Title: levis denims
Post by: raywilb on 18 April 2021, 19:53:11
in the early 60.s i went to sea , levis were widely worn by merchant seamen & to purchase a pair you would have probably had to go to a ships chandlers.
i have been trying to get  some genuine levi jeans & ebay is full of them saying that they are authentic but when i look at the sizes they r.e not.  Levis never made jeans in even sizes. 29, 31 waists & buy them a size big as they always shrank. guaranteed never to rip & you would get e little story book with each pair.  will may try ebay usa

I still buy them from time to time, although they are nearly £100 a pair now.
The quality is nothing like it used to be either. Not even sure any of them are made in the USA any more ?

About 45 years ago we were in the notrh of Malta watching the ferry come and a load of Levi trucks formed a bit of a convoy into Malta.

Just tried to find the factory on Gozo but it seems it was shut down in 2004

??? Are you sure? The last Levi's I bought were even sizes. I'm pretty certain they are genuine, as I bought them from the Levi store on the outskirts of LA.

Gave up with Levis after losing 4 stone in weight , bought some from M&S and never looked back hard wearing & only around £25 a pair.

Ive got some I've had for years, even size, and don't recall them ever being odd sized. Memory not good so doesn't mean they weren't. I bought a 'genuine' pair of 505's with Levi label from eBay last October for £47.32 + £9.50 postage. Came from USA.

Trousers are traditionally even sizes for the waist, and odd for the leg.

I buy my 501s here https://www.jeanscene.co.uk/levi-s-501-denim-jeans-black/
I have 4 pairs. One pair a year. Wear them for work for a couple of years and then they get relegated to home only use and then DiY use.
Just about to buy another pair actually. But I've lost weight so I need to drop a size or 2.
