Was 160mph the voice over speed or the 'we' ve some catching up to do, stamp on it speed?

The only way a Mazda 2 can do 160mph is on a plane ;D

Just rewound .....Mazda 3, sorry. Twin exhausts, sporty looking..160mph.

Thought I'd give it a go but when the preview said that the occupants of a fleeing Mazda were throwing fire extinguishers at chasing cops at 165mph I didn't think my dodgy ticker would stand the comedy excitement.  ::)
Mazda will want that car back to find out how, if it was a GT, which isn't even quick to 60mph, managed to gain an extra 35mph top speed. Where do they find these presenters.  ::)

Beemer was flat out, which I believe is 155, and couldn't keep up. Maybe it was a Japanese import  ;D ;D

No, the Mazda 3mps is a serious bit of kit 2.3ltr turbo. 155mph standard and it only takes a little breathing on to really make it fly👍

Well that explains that then, if it's a genuinely quick car.  :y  I hold my hands up, I've never heard of a 3mps.  :-\  Perhaps I should have watched it.  ;D

If Joe Public can order / spec a new Audi (from Audi, not a third party supplier) with the top speed limiter raised from 155mph to 174mph, I don't think any Police Force ordering new vehicles would have any problem in doing the same.
Appreciate I have referenced Audi, but I'm certain other manufacturers may offer the same, especially for the Police.

MPS engine is 256BHP as standard, throw £1k at it and you'll get +60bhp. You can push these to 400bhp, but it's not cheap and the rods are known to be a bit Cadbury's.

Don’t forget it’s a policeman’s job for money, he want to get home to his family after work. The criminals are driving for their freedom, probably high on something and couldn’t give a toss.

Unlike the American's. There is a video of US police officer PIT'ing a suspect at over 100mph.
PLEASE NOTE - I have not linked the video to this as the suspect didn't make it. If you do search for this on youtube, please be aware you are seeing someone die.

Probably was limited to 155mph.
Another 'urban myth' that used to circulate years ago that Police Cars were 'souped up' was not true. They had additional equipment such as bigger alternators, firmer suspension and additional speedometers etc etc, but they weren't 'souped up' as such, and years ago were straight off the production line with local Police vehicle workshops adding the additional equipment relative to their use. In the 'good old days', they were possibly in a better state of 'tune' than Joe Publics like for like cars, which may have contributed to the thought that they were faster :D
Today, most manufacturers supply Police spec'd vehicles already equipped with the additional wiring looms and light bars etc etc rather than standard vehicles being equipped by the Police themselves. I often see transporters up and down from Ford for example with brand cars kitted out for the Police even with the livery (which is now to a standard - 3M for one) sometimes minus local crests. Some radio equipment is still unique to each individual Force, but the cars themselves are standard vehicles as supplied to anyone.
But every man on the street still believe Police cars are faster (which is no bad thing) :)

It wasn't the PIT that killed him, but the subsequent impacts pure chance that the police car landed on it twice. The State Trooper involved walked from it :o

The full video gives a much better context than the two minute clip.

PITing a vehicle, at any speed, tends to be a last resort, and isn't a decision that's necessarily made by the offficer that does it, there is usually supervision responsible for the whole pursuit.

Knowing the US's level headed approach to such things, they probably send a missile after the car if they couldn't catch it.

The police should stop cooperating in these pointless trailer trash shows as it makes them look

a) Incompetent
b) Arrogant
c) Too risk adverse

All this makes it too easy for the crims to run rings around them, and even if they do get caught, they will have the knowlege they will get a 14 day suspended.

about the punishment leniency i totally agree. once caught they should be made culpable & pay for the total cost of the chase & all consequences entailed. when a helicopter is launched i believe that alone costs £ 6k

Plus....if some brain dead twonk decides to reverse his stolen 4x4 into a police car, he should be made to pay for the damage or, failing that, serve extra time.

Instead of bleeding hearts saying that less people should be be kept out of prison because of the overcrowding and poor conditions, they should be asking for bigger, better prisons. Ones that will house 20,000 prisoners, lots of them too.

Agree fully, it would probably cost less in the long run.

They would never staff them ,HMPS is struggling to keep staff at present, so many have left in the last 12 months it's only experienced staff that kept the lids on in many establishments jailcraft takes years to learn youngsters of 18 can barely string a sentence together ,it's going to be a timebomb at many Prisons under the regimes that are being run during the Pandemic.

The experienced would teach the green, in a modern prison where offenders are segregated in small units and only allowed to mix once they've proven themselves trustworthy. All visitors would be scanned, searched and, if found with contraband, would be jailed themselves, kids or no kids. Mobile signals would be jammed, and electrical equipment would be earned through hard work, not given as a right. Cells would be made of modern, fireproof materials, soft(ish), so that headbangers could headbang away. All post would chemically processed to eradicate that particular avenue.

That's probably because the existing prisons weren't fit for purpose 100 years ago, let alone today.

There would be no need, Mick, electronically controlled metal gates could isolate any part of the prison at the push of a button. From a whole wing down to an individual cell, just lock them in and open the built in CS gas valves, they'd soon behave themselves.

Gissa job. ;D

I think thats pretty universal in any larger workplace.

Experience is perceived to be too expensive.

You've hit the nail right on the head ,new staff were on £12,000 a year less than staff that were in place before the new wage structure, pay peanuts get monkeys as the saying goes.
