I don't understand why it's fashionable to look like you've lent your car to me, and I've gone and pulled a gaggle of fat lasses...

Two words come to mind:

end - noun :

1.
the last part or extremity, lengthwise, of anything that is longer than it is wide or broad: the end of a street; the end of a rope....

bell - noun :

hollow metal object, typically in the shape of a deep inverted cup widening at the lip, that sounds a clear musical note when struck, especially by means of a clapper inside....

..and not necessarily in that order. ::)

I think he meant an ET of 18 for that 17" wheel......... ;)

Surely if you fit any wheel/tyre combo not specifically mentioned by the manufacturer and listed in the user manual, have you not broken the terms of the vehicle homologation and effectively invalidated your insurance?

As Omega's were only fitted with 15/16/17" wheels, would that not include 18" wheels as well?

Yep, hence insurer informed with tuv certificate from irmscher. Same goes for body kit. Adds a slight premium too. ::)

Misread that about the ET, but the tyres definitely don't look happy on it :-\

Indeed, and if you hadn't declared this mods - factory option or otherwise - your insurance would be invalid.  The extra premium is the price those wanting such mods pay.  The mods on my car, including LPG and Irmscher stuff looks to have added around £30 a year, so not too bad.

Last time I was involved in a prang, there were bits of lots of cars and barrier scattered across the dual carriageway, and the old bill sweeping what they could, and requested our insurances got recovery trucks out ASAP. I must have spent 20mins at the start of the call to mine answering questions where you could tell the insurance were looking for a way out...
