2.5 vs 3.0 heads?
« on: 19 August 2006, 23:46:13 »

any difference bar the cams? like i said someone i know is selling a 3.0 lump and at some stage ill want to get my hands on some heads to have ported and polished. would the ports in the 3.0 heads be any larger than those in the 2.5 head? if so would porting 3.0 heads and fitting them with 3.0 cams be a good idea?

3.0 heads have a larger bowl so will reduce the compression on a 2.5 litre....not good. No difference in flow etc either

hmm.. any idea how much it will lower CR? reason for asking is i may look into fitting a supercharger of some type.. probably centrifugal. it would be a pleasant surprise if it could be done on standard internals. maybe 5-7psi? think 3.0 heads, 3.0 or 3.2 injectors and a remap would keep the engine in one peice?

gotta love the sound of a V with a charger bolted to it.. plus the instant response would probably make a hell of a difference in shifting el green lard bottom to 60mph  :D
