Has anyone got a list of cams that are fitted to the V6 engines...?

Im toying with the idea of changing 2 of the G cams (I currently have 4 fitted) and fitting 2 A cams ...

Trying to get back some lost torque....

Going to get the engine running as it should do once the CTS (on order) has been replaced, coz its being in PITA to start in a mornings....

Omega General Help / Bastard to start when cold.....

My omega is being a idiot when first started for the day...

Basically anytime of day or night, first time to run my Omega and it takes a lot of cranking for it to start...

Once its been started, its OK for the rest of the time - day or night....

Could this possibly be choke related maybe...? Like its not switching on upon first start and then OK once its ran....?

I'll plug my code reader in once I find the connection lead/interface for my laptop.....

Any help or suggestions gladly received....

Omega General Help / 99 Elite 2.5V6 idle problem

OK folks, any help please...

My Omega won't tickover/idle at 500 RPMs as it should, well it will but is constantly hunting and varies between 300 and 700 RPMs when idle... My first thought was the ICV, so bought a new ICV and fitted it, problem still exists... Iv combatted it by turning the idle screw up so it now doesn't stop when in traffic/idling but is still hunting between 500 and 700 RPMs...

Iv recently replaced the rocker gaskets, the problem was there but didnt stop the engine before, but now it seems the problem has maybe got worse since...?

Would vacuum effect the idle....? Possible leak...? but I can't hear anything when engine is running....




BTW Iv also recently completed a full wet service on it ready for another years happy motoring if it passes its MoT next week....

Omega General Help / 2.6/3.2 manifolds on a 2.5 - flange modification...?

Hello folks, I got me a pair of 2.6/3.2 manifolds as a replacement for my 2.5 manifolds. I believe there is a modification needed to the 2.6 manifolds before I can use them...

Can anyone tell me what it is please, I'll be fitting these at the weekend, hopefully if the weather is OK...

Omega General Help / Oil warning light wont go out.....

So whats folks opinions, Im reckoning oil pump...

Oil warning lamp is lit and wont go out, plus theres a very distinct rattle coming from top of engine, possibly oil starvation...?

Would it be the suspect of a new pump required....?

Anybody got any links as to where to obtain 1 that is available for me to collect, local to Wigan....

Omega General Help / Which ECU/Control box...?

Im in the process of trying to sort out 2 keys for my Omega (1 for the missus and 1 for me), I need to know which code the CL control box should have stamped on it...?

I bought a CL control box with 2 keys off Ebay (coded GA) this week but the CL controller is off a MFL '98 MV6 with the 2 buttons and not the 3 I need for my FL, for the remote boot release...

Any help is much appreciated

Omega General Help / What might the cause be...?

What could cause an Omega to feel like it has a buckled wheel...? when it hasn't...

Iv tried swapping wheels one at a time to try and eliminate a distorted tyre or buckled wheel....

This driving me ruddy nuts.... is it maybe a bearing...? but theres no play in any bearing at all, on all four corners...



So far Iv tried swapping each wheel, Iv tried 3 sets of wheels....

Its to the point where I dont like driving my Omega as the thing is giving me motion sickness... the wife can't feel it and thinks Im making it up LOL



Help and suggestions welcomed....

A couple of weeks ago me and a mate took our cars around a local race track for a 'track attack' they was holding there...

My mate was in his Vectra 2.2 estate (soon to be a 2.2 SC    )

And me in my Omega 2.5















Im the fat balding 1 on the left   



Me mate thinking he's the ginger superman....

Will be doing this again on the 7th of next month..

If you ever wanted to get your foot down in a safe environment, take it to a race track... they let you go as fast and as sideways as you want as long as you aren't being dangerous

Omega General Help / Better brakes....?

Following a bit of track time I had in my Omega yesterday, my brakes obviously got hot and there was fade - a lot of it TBH

Is there a bolt o brake upgrade that can be readily got hold of...?

I will be upgrading the pads for EBC yellowstuff FR at some point in the near future but was wondering if something like Monaro brakes are a straight bolt on swap or if there is any other engineering required, like brake carriers need machining so they fit the Omega struts...

Omega General Help / Will it fit..?

Will a lip spoiler from a Preface Omega fit a Facelift Omega...?

Are they the same profile...?



I have an Irmscher lip spoiler off a preface and want to fit it to the boot of my facelift. Obviously I need to remove the Prodrive spoiler and LC rear wing, trying to go for a more sleek look to the Omega's profile. It might also help to stop the boy racers from attempting to remove the paint from the rear bumper too...
