My dog is 1700 miles away. Apparently he is missing me.

I am too busy trying to buy the last toilet roll to have time to miss him. Asda are having a delivery at ten , queueing starts at 7......

Stats? The Spanish Inquisition killed only 3000. Think how many it would have been if they hadnt been careful.

Brent crude oil is off 7.5% at $46 a barrel. It probably won't last as OPEC are meeting on Friday with a view to cutting production.

That figure Varche should read between 30,000 to 300,000, but even then I have read research by some historians that “millions” actually died.

However, whatever the figures, the Coronavirus will not kill the 50 million (60% of the population) estimated to have died in Europe due to the Black Death 1346 - 1353, or in England from 1348 - 51 when up to 50% of the population died a very horrible death.

Today the World is panicking over nothing more than a good flue outbreak that will thin out the old and weak, and a very small percentage of the 7.7 billion population. Yes some will have to grieve unfortunately, but that is the risk we take in this life, every minute of every day. Stripping supermarket shelves is just plain stupid and selfish >:(

Well over half the 100,000 who have contracted it have fully recovered.

I can't help but wonder if the outbreaks in Iran and Italy haven't been spread by either aid workers or refugees. The absence of any reported cases from Syria is suspicious.

Yes, every cloud has a silver lining. The Dept for work and pensions will save a fortune in state pension payouts.
There was a minister from the DWP on the radio this aft and, when a 78 year old lady who had been diagnosed with the virus asked him for advice, he said "Get down the bingo with all your mates, it will be fine".  ;D

That's not really true, btw  ::)

That’s probably because they have a war causing mass deaths to worry about rather than a bad cold :

.......and yes the following link shows the true picture across the World to date:

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries

Note that China, with a population of 1.4 billion and the first to have the virus has suffered.....................3,042 deaths.  That says it all for me ;)

They couldn't make a decision as the Russians wouldn't play ball and then they considered kicking the Russians out but couldn't make their mind up about that either!  :)
