Omega Electrical and Audio Help / leccy windows won't work!!
« on: 29 July 2007, 16:50:35 »
I may have asked about this before but my problem is this.

When sat in the car with the ignition on the front windows won't work, but when I open the front driver's,passenger or either of the rear doors the window's will work. I thought this could be due to a broken wire but I am not so sure now, maybe its the switch I thought as well but I just don't know, this one has got me confussed I don't know what the problem is. I am at the end of my teather now due to when wanting the front windows open I need to open the door every time just to lower the window or close the window. This is going to create a problem when driving down the motorway at 70-80 mph, so one is needing help quickly.

Could this STILL be a broken wire or is it down to the switch? Please help someone cos I am fed up with burning myself flicking the ash out of the window but then realising I can't and burn myself.

Omega General Help / Cambelt help!
« on: 04 September 2010, 22:10:51 »
Just a brief discription to let you know whats happened.
Engine out of car
stripped down to cambelt
turned engine over by hand to get camshafts and crankshaft to alignment marks. Inserted cam locking tools into cam sprockets, locked cranshaft with crankshaft locking tool, released tension from tensioners then removed belt.

Now I have come to put all new rollers and tensioners on and refit with new cambelt. Camshafts and crankshaft still in alignment, fitted rollers and tensioners then fitted cambelt as per instructions, then it was time to turn engine over manually to see if any further adjustments are needed, got to about 15 degrees of turning over and it stopped solid. I did not proceed any further but turned the engine anticlockwise back to the original position.
 What has happened?
Why did it happen?
Nothing was moved or touched before new cambelt kit was fitted.
What happens now?
Any ideas? Can anyone help with this confusion? I am baffled as to what has/went wrong. Was hoping to get the engine back into the car this weekend.

Omega General Help / Washer problems :-(
« on: 11 June 2009, 20:08:53 »
As you all know I have now fitted the front bumper. I now have a further problem, my windscreen and headlight washers are now not working. I have checked the fuse, which was blown and replaced, the washer pump does work as I have tested it. My question is, is there another fuse or relay for the washer jets as this has got me stumped. Washers worked for a split second then stopped, the pipes are on both pumps and now just don't work.

Omega General Help / Crankshaft sensor
« on: 29 May 2009, 14:12:22 »
Just a quick question but is the crankshaft sensor on the V6 3.0ltr, just by the oil filter? If so whoever replaced it last time decided to thread it throught the two pipes, which I think are the oil cooler pipes, and can't get it out. Plus cant even see where the cable goes either. >:(

Omega General Help / My car keeps cutting out :-(
« on: 09 May 2009, 21:55:44 »
My Elite keeps cutting out, and starts first time on the key. This started a few months back and would only cut out once or twice during the course of the day, now only recently she cut's out more but again starts first turn of the key. There are no fault codes. What could be the cause of this problem? Crankshaft sensor maybe?

Omega General Help / facelift bumpers on a prefacelift.
« on: 31 March 2009, 23:11:00 »
Would I need to change the bonnet on my prefacelift if I am putting on facelift bumpers or is it a straight swap? Have the chance of front and rear bumpers off a facelift but need to know if its ok without changing the bonnet.

« on: 01 April 2009, 08:21:54 »
Got myself a pair of xenons for the elite and was wondering on how they connect up to the existing wiring? Is there any chopping involved with the wiring and which ones do I need to chop?

Omega General Help / Slight Annoying problem with the Elite.
« on: 23 January 2009, 20:44:06 »
Only just started to happen on thursday, may be some thing of nothing really but has happened again today a few times. I am thinking it could be the crankshaft sensor.

Now when the car gets hot and I have stopped at lights or in traffic she will just stall, there is no eratic idleing all breathers are clean, no oil in plug wells cam cover's are very good. I have not done a paperclip test yet until tomorrow so don't know what codes there are. Anyone give some inclination on this one? There is know EML on either.

Omega General Help / I still have no change!!!
« on: 27 December 2008, 21:01:46 »
Well guy's as above which is all about my wheel wobble coming through the steering wheel at 70-75 mph wihch would last all the way through to 100 mph. With this in mind I decided to replace the disc's, which didn't help so after reading some more on the forum about this i decided to take the plunge and replace the discs and both hub bearings.

So on Wednesday morning thats what I did, I replaced the hub bearings, which I am glad I did as when I got the nearside off the bearings were rattling around the hub if you shook it plus they were very loose as well. So once I had removed and renewed the hub I replaced the disc as well and the caliper too.

On to the other side, samething here with the bearing but not as bad still worn and loose though. Anyway after replacing the hub bearing, discs and calipers I was set for my journey all the way to Burton to visit my brother for a few days. Anyway once I had joined the M4, the start of my journey, I took the car upto 75mph, great I said I have sorted it out, so I took her upto 85 mph sadley the wheel wobble is still there so I am annoyed now and not to sure where to look now.

So far I have replaced:

Both front hub bearings.
Both front discs.
Both front calipers.
Lower arms replaced ( about a year ago) so may need replacing again.

The front coil springs are ok not broken, had full geomtry done at WIM (as some of you remember my car was one of the ones done) the wheels have benn balanced three times, as far as I am aware the wheels are not buckled. The idler arm looks ok.

Is there anything else I could be missing? All help is appreciated as I am now at a loss of where else to look.

Omega General Help / 2.5 v6 DIED
« on: 17 December 2008, 10:44:31 »
As above but this is a friends car, I will try to get them on here and join up. Whats happened is where he lives they had floods but his car wasn't submerged. What had happened was a tidal wave from a lorry therefore water went up into the air intake.
My question is would it be worth repair and sorting out as the insurance company have written the car off, or buying another Omega?

Omega General Help / oil cooler change or not to change?
« on: 10 December 2008, 14:51:49 »
That is the question..........................

Now my question is whilst I have the top half of the engine off, as I am replacing the thermostat, would it be better to replace the oil cooler as well? I have no creamy white sludge build up nothing in the expansion tank but just wondered its worth replacing yet or not? As some people say on here ' If it aint broken don't fix it'  Just wanted other opinions from other people and suggestions.
