Omega General Help / Dis Pack giving trouble?
« on: 29 November 2008, 22:21:47 »
Evenin everyone,
Were shall I start, well on my way home this afternoon from somewhere further south from me the car started to misfire on me when I tried to accelerate and caused a lack of power. Now from reading some posts on here this seems to be the dis pack that is the likely cause. Now I have three dis packs kindly donated to me from a nother oof member. The problem is I could do with some help on this tomorrow if possible, Is there anyone out there that can help me tomorrow in the safe removal of the dis pack as things like this I tend to break or damage, the most I can do is remove the plenum the rest I am not competant enough to do. Is there anyone who would be able to help me with this? Tea or coffee will be supplied to keep us warm.

Omega General Help / Wheel wobble
« on: 22 November 2008, 09:18:27 »
Ok guys, I get wheel wobble at about 65 mph right through to 90 mph then even's off.
I have replaced both lower arms, drop links, both disc's and two new front tyres, both wheel s have been balanced twice and checked. When I replaced the discs it got better but still there but not as bad as before. Now when I had the wheels re-checked they also done a disc run-out and the results from this were the nearside was out but may need replacement and the offside was also out but needs replacement soon. Now my question is this...........

When I brake I still feel slight wheel wobble coming through the steering wheel, but with the testing on the front discs and them saying the wheel hubs will need replacing soon which do you guys think would be the first thing that springs to mind?
Discs or hubs? if its both that need replacing then I will replace them but if its just one of them then thats even better otherwise this will then become costly.

TIA

Omega General Help / Faulty fuel filter connection
« on: 21 September 2008, 14:00:21 »

As you can see I have split the pipe going into the fuel filter and the connection is not sealing to the filter. My question is if I was to use new fuel pipe and connect it to the fuel tank then connect it to the fuel filter without using the securing clips but using a jubilee clip would this work or do I need to get a new pipe from the stealers?

Omega General Help / LPG conversion questions
« on: 23 July 2008, 20:37:28 »
1. Where to buy a DIY lpg conversion kit (complete inc Tank)
2. How much for the complete kit?
3. Any recommendations as to what kit?

My mig has done 118000 miles and have considered having the conversion done. Finances are not the best in the world for me so the flexiable friend will come in and pay for the kit. I don't know if its worth doing as the mileage is so high, I might be wrong, but I am sure I will be told otherwise. IF I do decide to have the conversion done I would like to have some help as I wouldn't know where to start. Drilling and the like in things like this do not make a perfect hole I'm afraid so this will be a must. Any suggestions and advice on this matter would be gratefuly appreciated.

Omega General Help / Aircon problem need advice
« on: 23 July 2008, 18:55:09 »
As above, I have had the aircon system checked and there is no leakage from anywhere that is visible. I have checked the pipes and pipe valves for any possible leaks and there is none. I have had the system regassed twice now on the cheap lasted for a couple of days then no aircon gas/fluid, the pipes are cold for those couple of days but now nothing. My question is could this be down to the aircon pump not working properly? It does rotate no problem the clutch engages no problem, could this be the internals not working problem? If so is there an easy fix or is this going to be a new/secondhand pump?

Omega General Help / Charging probs?
« on: 29 May 2008, 18:08:55 »
Hi all,
I am now off my hols. I will tell you little story;

Got down to Pevensey, Normans Bay camp site, pulled into the car park to sign in and turned the car off. On my return to the car the battery was dead, wouldn't start, called the RAC they came out within 15 mins (the quickest they have ever been) and he found the fault.
The alternator wasn't charging the battery, the main earth lead seemed to be at fault, so he made a temp earth strap from the top of the engine to the negative terminal of the battery, battery now slowly charging.

He told me to leave the car running for at least half an hour that should do the trick, so I left it for the whole time whilst sorting the caravan out and setting up. Turned the car off left it for an hour started it again and it starts fine. Now he said there could be a possibilty that the alternator isn't charging the battery enough and to get the chrging system checked. My question is even though the battery is now being charged do I still need to replace the alternator or do I need to replce the earth strap to the battery?

Q2) I also noticed when the bonnet was up that the power sterring pump pulley isn't going round as it should, it moves but no enough. I still have power steering but it does seem heavy at times. The pulley goes round but it stutter's. I know I will have to change the pump but how?

As above there seems to be some form of lack of power in the beast ever since I hit the tail pipe on a kerb. Yes I know should have been more careful BUT whilst backing into a space at home I forgot the dip by the kerb and ssssccccrrrrraaaaapppppe!! whoops I have hit the kerb now the pipe rattles underneath. Would this cause lack of power or could it be something else? Plugs have been changed to the bosch super four, leads haven't yet but it just seems as if the plenums aren't happening as well. Any help?

Omega General Help / Starting problems.
« on: 21 April 2008, 18:55:06 »
I have a starting problem with the 2.2ltr diesel I have here. I have fitted the oil cooler to it and the thermostat and housing (thankyou to autovaux for supplying them) connected everything else that was taken off (Hoses extra) but now it wont start. It turns over no problem but does not fire, it seems if the fuel is not getting to the injectors.

Question, would this be anything to do with the bleed off pipe? or is it something else? I did connect jump leads to the battery and forgot that the ignition wa turned on, could I have blown the diesel pump fuse as it doesn't look as there is any fuel coming up. ( removed the bleed off pipe whilst the engine was bieng turned over)

Any help gratefuly received.

P.S this is the car I have had here for nine months.

Omega General Help / Just a quickie!!!!!
« on: 12 February 2008, 21:32:54 »
Whilst driving home from work (only three miles) my temp gauge rises upto almost 100 stops, fan cuts in, then drops down again. The car is the 3.0 v6 Elite.

My question is would this be the thermostat as I expect or something else? I have no coolant loss, I don't think the mixture is right anyway, no oil in the water or vice a verser.
