What size tyres to fit on 18 sportstars

Will need to dig them out as I guess your going to ask the J on alloys? Think there 8 or 8.5J

What are you guys fitting?

I have 235 40 18s on mine i think they are 8j

235/40/18 or if you got 9J at back then 265/35/18

245 are an option for 8.5J, but increase change of rubbing if a large rim protection

235 and 245 were the suggested sizes for my 8J Stilas ;)

Yes, but Irmscher are notoriously stupid, like all the German styling companies (in-house or otherwise).

Lets face it, their styling parts are designed specifically for the car, yet don't fit particularly well.


I can assure members that even 235/40/18 can rub quite badly with a camber of 1.15, if it has a large rim protection (such as the particularly crap GY Eagle Asym F1) - even Mrs TB complains about it, but counters it by turning the wireless up more.

I'm sure when we tried my Mich PS4 245/40/18 on the front of chrisgixer's black thrashmobile, we encountered rubbing around the roundabouts - but then, we all know how he drives. These still have rim protection, but not as extreme as the GY F1's.

245s didn't rub on either my plod with standard suspension nor on my 30mm lowered estate...

And that included whilst fitted with the Goodyear tyres... ::)

Actually I forgot, did rub the arch liners... But that was only on the black one with Irmscher four pot.front springs, so sat a bit lower than it perhaps should have ::)
