It has been a useful little contraption for commuting as I get over 60mpg from it.
It has really tried my patience recently though. One more episode like this one and the swan vestas are coming out.

On a diesel?

That might take a bit of lighting.

You'll miss it, but if you don't want to fix it, then it's time to let it go ;)
It is fixed.  Not withstanding the rear arches, and TBH, the discs haven't taken well to lack of use, understandably.  Its actually getting used as our little runaround car to use the fuel up, because I'm tight ;D

If it wasn't for the LPG situation in these parts, it would stay  :'(

Sucked out 3 litres of rainwater from drivers side front and rear footwells. The car hasn't moved for a couple of months, so seeing as we're in for a few dry days I'll be investigating where it's coming in. I've done some homework on the problem, so it won't be the first or the last time that this problem has been mentioned on here.

Had a coolant level warning on the way home yesterday.

Dug out my pressure test kit and discovered an active drip from behind the waterpump pulley.

The coolant pump looks to be the only thing that engine has had replaced on it ::) At least the bolts should undo :-X

Topped it up with distilled water pending the next step.

Also topped up the ATF as it was a little low. Technically that's due a filter change which would also take care of the weapy sump seal on that... And also a new connector seal, as that's probably the actual leak source (it's an established issue on the 722.6 box).

And as I was on a roll, checked the engine oil too... And added a quarter litre to that ::) Camcover seals are starting to get sweaty, so that's that.

None had needed, nor been, topped up in the year I have had it, in fact, beyond the brakes/oil and filters* it has literally only required a track rod end, two lower arm ball joints and a headlight bulb upto this point 8)

*getting it up and running notwithstanding  :D

The block is aluminium, it doesn't need an excuse to disolve :D

And exactly why it needs a good strong antifreeze mix...   ...if the car is a keeper.

Oh, and had to endure a rant by Mrs TB over her trip to Tesco this morning.

Apparently there was a hard frost overnight and:
Removed all personal possessions from TBE

included the ice scraper and all the bags she uses for shopping.

Just be aware that all JLR products are a bit sensitive to battery voltage, and that added to the periodic purposely discharging the battery condition checking by the BMM can cause these errors to appear.

Generally, when the battery is dying on JLR products, you tend to get other electrical glitches - on mine, its the bloody tyre pressure system shuts down or the passenger mirror doesn't fold, though I have had it reboot the dash before which is a bit inconvenient when PC Plod is up your arse whilst driving through town, and you have no speedo, no rev counter and hoping you are near enough to 30mph to avoid getting tugged.

My battery for the XJ came from Hellfrauds, probably same you got looking at the price, a Yuasa one?  Was £105 on trade just over a year ago, paid for entirely by vouchers from Topcashback, and itself earned about a fiver on Topcashback.  So given the other bonuses you get, I reckon it cost me abouy £90 of my free topcashback money.
