They were a very nice car, a friend of mine had a MK2 Cortina Savage around 1972 it had the 3litre V6 engine & really could motor its reg was HTF 12F I believe it was still around about 3 years ago.

Still on the road now  :y

I would be more worried about the exterior colour, but at least '70s tan will wear better than the current dross...

MoT exempt too, which will save on maintenance costs  :D

Not overly keen on left hand drive, but the biggest concern with those old Mercs is rust. They are often riddled with it.
May have a free 1.2 Punto available soon, which might do for a commute car, although I imagine low 40,s mpg ? rather than nearly 60 from Pierre.
Would do the job for a while at least though. Then maybe have one more summer of fun with the Boxster, fix a few issues on it and then get rid of all three cars and have just one tedious little reliable Toyota.
That's why the MoT exempt part is so great. Also coming from the Middle East, rust shouldn't be a real concern :y

LHD isn't an issue in something that old/slow either :D

Bullet holes maybe though ::)

We have a 406 diesel in the fleet. 50mpg if I am taking it gently to and from work. Cheap as chips to buy and insure. Bits are cheap and they're easy to work on. If it helps.

Cracking cars , tough as old boots, drove mine to 230k miles then sold to someone else who carried on with it

From memory, F1 disputes arent allowed by the FIA to be taken to the court of arbitration of sport.
The only realistic way to resolve it if Mercedes appeal had succeeded would probably have been to have deemed the race to have finished the lap before the Williams went into the wall.
A retrospective red flag  in effect.
I think all the evidence suggests the the referee didnt just make an error. He seems to have taken his instructions from Red Bull.

And there lies the problem :-\

1.  When I was 13, I hoped that one day I would have a girlfriend with big tits.

2.  When I was 16, I got a girlfriend with big tits, but there was no passion, I decided I needed a passionate girl with zest for life.

3.  In college I dated a passionate girl, but she was too emotional.  Everything was an emergency.  She was a drama queen, cried all the time and threatened suicide.  I decided I needed a girl with stability.

4.  When I was 25, I found a very stable girl but she was boring.  She was totally predictable and never got excited about anything.  Life became so dull that I decided I needed a girl with some excitement.

5.  When I was 30, I found an exciting girl, but I couldn't keep up with her.  She rushed from one thing to another, never settling on anything.  She did mad impetuous things and made me miserable as often as happy.  She was great fun initially and very energetic, but directionless.  I decided to find a  girl with some real ambition.

6.  When I turned 40, I found a smart ambitious girl with her feet planted firmly on the ground, I married her.  She was so ambitious that she divorced me and took everything I owned.

7.  I'm much older and wiser now, and I'm looking for a girl with big tits.

I will always associate the term “constellation” with steam locomotives with a 2-8-0 wheel arrangement :D ;)

I always think of this when I see Constellation

My bad, it was the hugely successful Ital estate that had the 2.0 litre engine. They didn”t make many..

2.0 was auto only as well ::)

I seem to recall road tax being £25 a year for all cars regardless of engine capacity or pollution.

Perhaps I have that wrong though. I would have only been a nipper.

My lads VRS estate is still only £30 a year. I wonder if he pays in instalments.  ::) ;D
I do on the wife's diesel astra, £2 odd a month  ;D

I have a Fiesta 1.4 diesel which is £30  a year to tax, they offered installments on that !!

Didn't part ex it for the cheapest R320cdi in the country.

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202110299016551

Nothing insurmountable wrong with it, but I drew the line at having to buy tyres on the way home.

It would have been a stonking deal though.

The add says cheap to tax ,duh its 585 a year ;D

Just had a look at my DD for the Signum.......£52.50 each month.

So more than £585. :-\

The extra is for paying monthly, £585 is top whack for that year
