Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Electric rear windows
« on: 11 March 2010, 14:00:00 »
Managed to get the drivers door loom in...hooray.
However, the rear electric windows are still inoperative.
There is power getting to the rear doors, and the new drivers door loom came from an Elite model, so is the correct one for electric rear windows. The loom in the drivers door is working, the central locking on that door works, and so does the mirror adjustment and the front two windows.
I've checked all fuses under the steering wheel, and all are intact.
In the facelifts drivers manual, it lists 35 fuses and only shows 34 in the diagram, however fuse 35 is 'Window lifter' I wonder if that could be it?
I'll try and post a copy of that page of the manaul, but it's circa page 184 I think.
I can't think of any other reason why it's not working...any ideas?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Drivers door loom
« on: 02 March 2010, 13:21:40 »
I'm currently removing the old drivers door loom from the red 2001 facelift 3.2 ex police as I'm adding a new drivers door loom to enable the operation of the rear electric windows.
I've unplugged everything, but I can't get the bloody connector thing to come out...the circular bit that connects the door loom to the supply from the car. That is a very poor description, but it's at the front of the door by the wing. I've tried just pulling it, twisting it...but it won't move.
Does anyone know how I can get it out?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Decoding CCR 2006
« on: 30 December 2009, 21:03:03 »
I've just got in a 2002 MV6, and it's got the CCR 2006. However, the battery had been disconnected and I don't have the car pass. The headunit is in 'SAFE' mode, can it be decoded, or is there anything else I can do?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CCRT 2008 cartridge not ejecting.
« on: 03 October 2009, 22:41:20 »
The 4 disc cartridge/magazine isn't ejecting, when I press the eject button it ejects partially but not enough to pull out and it just won't come out. I can push it back in no problem. I assume the only fix would be to take the unit apart? Any ideas most welcome  :y

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CCRT 2008 info and addition of CID
« on: 26 September 2009, 22:03:09 »
Hello all,
I've been looking at a 2002 Elite and it has the CCRT 2008 system fitted. My previous Omega was a CDX and had the CCR 2006 with the full height mid screen.
Personally I think the half height screen looks a bit naff, what, if anything could I replace it with? The CID was not an option with that headunit, but would it still work with it? And what do you think of the CCRT 2008 in general? Being the Elite it has the bose too. I always thought the CCR 2006 in my CDX was pretty good, is the bose considerably better?
Any opinions or suggestions welcomed  :y

Hello all,
I do remember this being posted some time ago but can't seem to find it. I was going to post in general help, but I think this is more of an electrical question.
I've got a facelift CDX saloon with the velour interior...I want to upgrade to leather, preferably an Elite interior with the heated rear seats and full electric adjustment of both front seats. However, I was wondering is this actually possible? I'd also fit the auto dim mirror too that hopefully would work with the seats. Would the memory function work, or would too much extra wiring and stuff be needed? Really I'm not sure how much work would be needed...but the most important hurdle to jump is actually finding a facelift elite interior in the right colour (light grey)
Many thanks

Omega General Help / Part number for coolant temp sensor Y26SE
« on: 20 November 2010, 19:08:36 »
I've had a quick look through the TC website and it lists water temperatue sensor...which I assume must be the same as a coolant temperature sensor?
It lists 90541937 as the correct one for the Y26SE, can anyone confirm that please?  :y

Omega General Help / Almost missfire/judder Y32SE
« on: 22 October 2010, 13:49:27 »
Issue is on a 3.2
When started from cold and in 'Park' the idle is smooth and fine.
When put in R or D a judder becomes present, it feels and sounds like a missfire but no emissions light or EML (both bulbs present and working). When put back into P it's fine again. The vehicle hasn't been run up to temperature to see if that makes any difference. There is a 'swooshing' noise, similiar to the sound of an aux belt that's wet present, although the aux belt is fine. There appears to be some minor oil residue at the bottom of the pulleys, although only a small amount. This 'swooshing' noise seems to be coming from under the plenum behind the bagpipes area. Oil leaking and affecting the cambelt?
The vehicle is not driven, as I thought this could end up causing plenty of damage.
Any ideas welcomed  :y

Omega General Help / Starting issue Y26SE
« on: 13 October 2010, 20:38:09 »
My 2.6 manual seems to have developed a starting issue. First attempt at starting when cold, turn the key and the temperature light and fuel light come on, it starts and dies straight away. Try it again and it's as good as gold. No codes found via the pedal trick, no eml or emissions light either, and no idle issue etc. My first thought was crank sensor, but I've never had that issue before so don't really know what to expect with it.
Any ideas greatly received  :y

Omega General Help / OEM brake pads - Brake dust
« on: 24 September 2010, 22:46:49 »
I've no idea what brake pads are on my 2.6 Elite currently, but they do produce a lot of brake dust, even after a gentle drive the front wheels are always black.
Do OEM pads produce less brake dust? The brakes feel fine, but not excellent...so I may change the discs and pads, and wonder whether the cheap VX pads are ok, or whether to go for the OEM ones?

Omega General Help / Y26SE code 0560
« on: 08 September 2010, 19:31:55 »
I had to jump start a P38 Range Rover and a Merc Sprinter van today. My battery isn't the best in the world and when I restarted it I noticed I had the 'spanner' light come on with the ignition, goes out with engine running. No stored codes, and from the pedal trick I get 0560. Which says something about low voltage. I guess putting quite a high demand on the battery caused it?
Vehicle starts fine and there's nothing wrong with it, but is there anything I need to do to try and clear the code, or just wait?

Omega General Help / Oil strainer, oil change etc
« on: 14 August 2010, 21:03:48 »
I did have a bad experience with one Omega, a 2.6 MV6...the oil and filter was changed then the vehice sold, the vehicle was returned with a seized engine. It was later found to be the oil strainer blocked with crud, which I guess the fresh oil would have made worse.
I have two Omega's that are mine to keep, and neither have had an oil change in my ownership, not owned for long though  :D
To prevent any possibility of an oil pressure issue, would it be seen as a sensible precaution to remove the sump and clean it out, and check and clean the strainer? Or would a short 150 to 200 mile oil change two or three times get most of the crud out?
One's a 2.6 and the other's a 3.2, I've never had the sump off before...would it be easy to see the strainer and oil pick up?

Omega General Help / Coolant temp sensor
« on: 05 August 2010, 21:29:32 »
On my newly aquired 3.2 auto ex police saloon the pedal trick reveals 0115, a few missfire codes and the expected 0430. INot really bothered about the missfire code as I can't hear/feel a missfire currently. But the 0115 code I hadn't come across before, 0115 is lised as circuit high and low, so it'll have to be one of the other...anything to bother fixing?

P0115 Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Low Input

Omega General Help / Coolant issue, possible HBV?
« on: 16 July 2010, 13:22:39 »
I bought a 2003 '52' Omega 2.6 Elite manual two nights ago, when I looked at the vehicle, the coolant level was a bit low but not too bad.
Just came back from a 30 mile trip, and whiltst driving I thought I could smell coolant so thought it best to check the coolant level, the expansion tank was empty. After letting it cool down for a bit, I slowly opened the tank cap and released some of the pressure, the coolant level rose a bit to 1/4 of the tanks capacity.
When driving the temp is perfect, doesn't overheat at all. Checked the oil, no mayo on the dipstick, not even on the filler neck, but knew this was unlikely anyway to find mayo on the dipstick
Before I stopped driving I did think it could be a possible HBV issue, so I put the heater on, and not much seemed to happen.
The engine is still too warm for me to be poking about in it currently, but I've never had a HBV issue with any previous Omega's. I seem to recall it's at the back of the engine on the N/S? How difficult is it to do?

Omega General Help / 3.2 cams in 2.6?
« on: 13 July 2010, 17:28:48 »
As I understand it, 3.0 cams fit in a 2.5 and give it an extra 15 bhp or so. Would this then be possible with the 2.6 and 3.2 cams? Is it the same sort of power increase. I'm purchasing a 2.6 Elite manual tomorrow, and comtemplated the idea of having 3.2 cams fitted. It also raised another question, the 2.6 has the R25 gearbox (I think) and the 3.2 manual has the R28. If the standard 2.6 is 179bhp, and you then give it an extra 15bhp bringing it to 194bhp would this cause any problems for the gearbox? 3.2 is 211bhp, so still a fair bit more.
