The biggest issue for me would be getting it here from Southampton......legally of course....

If it has an MOT I could drive it legally with Trade Plates to cover the VED.

Omega General Help / Re: Planning an engine rebuild.
« on: 15 March 2015, 15:55:51 »
Yep, went through my local dealer, very helpful!

I did go through with it, it was for a client in France, he wanted a new engine for his '03' Elite. It had covered 12,300 miles, but then he damaged the sump and knackered it  :o

When I last enquired, it was £1,609 for an Omega Y32SE engine, with I think a three year warranty.

The part number was; R1000151A

It's not to retrofit, it's to replace a potentially faulty one  :y

As per title please. My memory is a little hazy, but I think there's a black and a grey plug for the CID (Colour Screen), both are required please  :y

;D it was a strange sight! I suppose at least I can drive around at 90mph with no repercussions!

A rather odd title I know, but I had a link sent to me. The fourth Grand Theft Auto game appears to have a following in adding different non original cars to the game.

Lo and behold, a version of my unmarked TVP Omega appears, even with correct reg plate. It's quite funny to see. I admire their skill in creating such things...

General Discussion Area / Re: scrap prices,
« on: 17 February 2015, 21:23:35 »
It appears that the scrap price of cars has dropped dramatically ...today i was quoted......£53.....£60....£80....for the complete desmond by 3 different scrap collections...and it runs and has an m.o.t untill august.......is this correct or is it a stitch up.... :-\ :-\

Surely, a running Omega will fetch £150 at least on ebay. What's wrong with it, for it to be scrapped?

 ;D that is some distance!

I'm up in Cumbria in the coming few weeks however!

I remember a post from Sam Burton about the same service some time ago, I'll see if I can find it  :y
His was a 2.2 DTI but gave a detailed report on it.

I'm always happy to consider a P/X if it makes it easier  :y

Official 2.6 auto saloon figures are 139mph top speed, 0-60 of 9.5 seconds. For comparison a 3.2 auto saloon can do 149mph and 0-60 of 8.0 seconds.

I've reset the 0420 code, I've travelled 36 miles in this Omega today, and the light has stayed off. But, I know at some point it will come back on.

The pre-cat sensor needs moving, I would expect a DIY cost to be minimal, but £100 to get someone to do it for you.

The emissions are not above tolerance levels, so will pass an MOT. But, you are correct to be weary, if the cause of the emissions light was unknown it may well not pass.

I travel that road often, it is very steep indeed. It is NSL, then 20 with a newly introduced chicane.

Al - You've driven the route aswell.

If faulty brakes are part of the equation, he did well to avert an even worse incident! Still, a terrible tragedy.
