Interesting auction vehicles...
« on: 11 April 2015, 18:17:55 »

Brightwells in Leominster, hold vehicle auctions, re-selling run of the mill, police, and 4x4 vehicles.

But, I thought some may be interested to see an auction disposing of ex museum cars;

And especially for TB, here's a lovely old Rover with just under 7,000 miles...

The Austin 16 looks good: an X30XE, R28 and Capri axle and you've a nice Hotrod. Though that's the plan for my Standard Flying 12 DHC, and that's a much rarer car. One of 4 I believe.

The convertible Minx would make a nice daily too. Can't beat Rootes for usable old stuff.

The suggested price of that Rover is just mental, £1000 would be optimistic for a good one.

Surely if your standard 12 is one of only four left wouldn't it make more sense to keep as is and mod something more common

Fascinating. That Austin A40 Somerset brings back memories. I passed my test in one of those in 1956. Bench front seat, column gear change, umbrella handle hand brake. It was black, like the sale car.  Perhaps they were all black.

Keep it as is? It's rotten, the structural wood is so bad that it still looks like a car only out of habit, the incomplete engine is seized solid, the roof is badly torn and the interior is oppsed. It is much more likely to end up back on the road as a hotrod than it ever would as a restoration. Plus, I already own it.

Hmmm, I wonder, something for everyone there ;D almost.

TB would love the road roller. AA the Gypsy caravan. Dtm the jet engine. Del Boy (what happened to him btw) the robin reliant.

;D

Mmmm. The interceptor.. or the SM.. or the De Tomaso? :-\

SMs are cool, but could you really put up with one? De Tomaso is much the same.

But I've always fancied an Interceptor, and if you can afford the fuel running one is viable. As I can no longer afford to buy one in the first place, I'll just have to keep admiring a friend's recently restored(and tuned!) one. In orange, with black interior and 4 carbs it's a proper 70s GT

Depends if you want to go to work in it every morning, really. I'd buy an SM just to stick in the corner of the living room and admire.. If I had a big enough living room. ::)
