Scuttle Drains

I was trying to see if I could find out where last years rear seat foot well swimming pool was coming from. Looked down under the cabin filter, and can see the drain vent, but I can't work out where the 'exit' is. I squirted a washing up bottle of water in, and it dribbled out onto the floor, but I couldn't work out where from. Seems to be below the ABS modulator somewhere?

I know on one of my previous Pre-facelifts there was a rubber grommet exit in the NSF wheel well - discovered it when I poked some wired into it whilst lying underneath. Got covered in swamp water.

Anyone got a picture of it? My guess is it's in the NSF chassis leg somewhere.

It's over the chassis leg under the bulkhead projection and drains directly on to the top surface of the chassis leg. Water then drains down through the chassis leg and out all over the floor.

Two ways to find it...

1. follow the chassis rail back until you can't see your fingers and reach up.

2. find the lower wiring harness where it leaves the scuttle and go down and under.

From inside the scuttle, it is visually obscured by the wiring harness that runs across the top of it.

Superior Prefacelifts exited, sensibly, into the wheel arch void.

Inferior Facelifts exited, stupidly, on top of the chassis leg, to drain down the chassis leg under the aircon pipe exit, until it finds a way to drip to the floor.

Ahh, so that's why the water was pi55ing out of everywhere, with no discernible single exit point. So once you've poked some twin and earth through from topside that's about the limit of what cleaning out can be done.

Your 'superior' preface-lift exits had a habit of sludging up on me though, so not convinced that was really any better.

They all sludge up at about the same rate in my experience, and benefit from an annual clean. More often if parked under trees in Autumn.
