Shock went into the boot

Hi guys...iz there a part available to fix this rust issue? Anything at all?

Omega has new rear panels, new rocker panels, is completely sorted and was repainted this spring. I didin't even think it would rust trough where the shock is.
I don't want to scrap it

The shock turret can theoretically be replaced by drilling the spot welds and welding in a replacement turret removed from a rust free inner quarter.

I had an at length debate on here with Terry Paget on the very subject.

Obviously there will be those that insist that it can't be done.

The actual turret panel is about 6" square and if you remove the rear wheel arch liner or boot trim, you can clearly see it.

In theory it would have been available as a separate piece.

A good welder will replace that section with an available part
probably won't be a "rust free" omega panel though  ;D

Pull the boot carpet before hand so they have a clear picture as soon as they open the boot.

something like this example clcicky , welded in ,just a case of finding something that fits ,big enough to replace the section of rot .

Had this on our sedan. Left shock went through the turret. Cut a turret out of a car at the scrap yard and got someone to weld it in. Couple of years later same thing happened to the right shock. Just by coincidense it happened on the way to the Opel dealer for some programming. Dealer welded it back up the same day. Several years ago and car is still in daily use. Wasnt that expensive either.

otherwise an easy enough area to fix with (as mentioned) an omega section or a suitable alternative. its only a rounded section after all.

It would make a decent mould for a prosthetic arm. The surface the shock mounts against isn't actually flat ;)
