Mine doesn't do that off the key. but when you open it remember to move your face out of the way because it will slap you under the chin thanks to the new struts I put on it.

I had a Ex Plod that used to do that, quiet frustrating at 76.9 MPH if you hit the wrong button on the Center Console, would have to pull in at the next Services to close the Boot whilst counting whats missing.  ::)

These guys had one that did the same thing at 70mph less....

Anyone remember the works mk1 Lotus Cortina race cars that had hydraulic operated boot lids to aid braking? Only done for a few races.

boot release mechanism from the saloon

surely that's not man enough for the job, more likely to have a modded Vectra C estate tailgate release motor

Have you seen one in the flesh? Struts are nearly 2" diameter.

Those in the video look reasonably standard, but probably from a different application.

For example Ford used different strength struts on the Sierra Hatch according to whether a spoiler was fitted  :y

Have I seen what in the flesh?
You must think I'm a right muppet, I'm fully aware that cars with boot/tailgate spoilers have heavy duty struts to allow for the extra weight.I sold irmscher spoilers for years.

The Vectra tailgate mechanism... Not sure what else that could have been taken to mean ;)

Popping the latch is straight forward enough, although it is the reverse of the saloon, so the release part would be tailgate rather than rear panel mounted.

The Vectra mechanism is also really slow and incredibly temperamental. Retrofitting it would be, er, backwards :D
