The rules changed for self certification due to illness ; 7 days became 28 days for a self sick note & the usual piss takers at work lapped it up   ::)

  https://www.gov.uk/taking-sick-leave

This is a  temporary measure & put in place so that surgeries can get the booster shots done

I`ve since heard that this will end towards the end of January.
One of these boys has already called in to say he  wants light duties only when he returns next Monday  :-*

You could say any number you like & you can also believe anything you like so in reality it's all boll ocks. Who could actually be sure ?

The 17,000 figure came from the Office of National Statistics after a freedom of information request, so it's probably reasonable to take it at face value.
.

And they've all probably been working from home , for at least 10 minutes a day..😂
And that's the problem... The whole system is at a virtual standstill because people can't be bothered to get out of bed to go to work.

Similar experiences here DG. The NHS is totally f*cked and is the most expensive white elephant in the history of the world as far as Im concerned.
But its the new Opium of the people and we shouldnt say stuff like this.

For 5 months or so last year England was the only country in Europe without a mask mandate until the government panicked over Omicon and brought in 'Plan B' reinstating the mask mandate.

Most other European countries had much stricter restrictions than England.  France for example, a comparable country with a similar population had a mask mandate much stricter. People even have to wear them outside!  So you'd think that their infection rates would be much lower than England's. No? ???

For the last three days France has recorded over 400,000 new infections each day, and they are doing about half the amount of tests that we do here in the UK.

18th Jan - 464,769
19th Jan - 436,167
20th Jan - 425,183

So yes masks work..............  ::)
Almost as effective as those lock downs in Wales and Scotland.

TCV is being used as an excuse to provide a woeful service across the board. Once Ton E B Liar and his innumerate accountant spent all the money on the tree the NHS motto may as well be "Strive to be worse".

It took a fortnight for a neighbour to get a doctor to entertain the concept of returning a call. When they finally were able to speak to someone, a CT scan was arranged in short order and it turns out that he has terminal cancer.

Would seeing a doctor two weeks previously have helped any? Who knows.

But this isn't a new issue, five years ago, my Dad was seriously ill for six months and they didn't find out why until his autopsy in spite of his spending almost a month in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Received an NHS survey today... Multiple choice answers, but not one question has an applicable answer... eg "How easy is it to speak to a Doctor? a) really easy; b) easy; c) quite easy..." The actual answer is very difficult, but it isn't an option ::)

It's almost as though they don't actually want to acknowledge the true state of the NHS. They even have the gall, having posted the survey out, to ask that you complete it online because it's cheaper for them.

Not anymore - France are doing roughly double the number of tests that we are now doing. Which one reason why their positive test numbers are through the roof. The UK has basically stopped testing now - and surprise surprise the numbers are dropping.

I stopped going to work in March 2020 as I am diabetic, retired in June 2020 not even had a cold since then & every test I've done has been negative so just lucky I guess.
