Post New Dis Pack Woes

Thanks to the great advice I received in my other thread on the major service and a faulty 2-4 -6 plugs Dis Pack / Coil Pack, I was able to quickly fit a new one today, without removing the plenum, but removing the cable tray.  Why I had not done that before on this Omega, when I had on a previous one, I do not know!! ::) ::) ::)

However, the management light for the exhaust / emissions is staying on when I start the car, and stays on when driving, even though all cylinders are now firing correctly. :( :(

Any ideas please on what this means / what I must do please? ??? ??? ???

The MOT is now due so I need to fix this. ;)

Read the fault codes
you may have trapped a wire, pulled out a lambda or other electrical connection ,who knows (the ECU does  ;D)

If light wasnt on before you replaced ignition module I expect you have trapped a wire from the mass in the cable tray or left something unplugged.

Retrace your work and it should appear what the issue is ...several connecters at back where you pull multiplug from module that might not be fitted properly .

Needs a code really to be sure .

But will the light need to be put out by code reader after anyway?

Not necessarily. Depends what caused it to come on.

Identify, fix and put some starts/miles under it and if it's happy then it will sort itself out. Usually  :D

That is something I am worried about.  The light came on during a test drive after I refitted the old, temporarily repaired, unit, then went off. It came on twice again before I got the car back to the garage, but again went out.

So is it due to something I have done before fitting the new module, or as a result of fitting it? That is what is giving me some doubt.  Have I damaged the cats? The worst senario ! :o :o

Tomorrow I will be doing the pedal trick to get any codes.

If it's running ok it won't be on the ignition side, besides, EML tends to stay on if misfire is bad enough. The knock sensor cable on one of mine is a bit fragile and that used to put EML on then it would extinguish itself later

Yes it is running very smoothly, so I know all is well with the ignition and combustion ;)

They will be fine. Takes more than that. Really need to read the codes rather than guess.
