no one's even mentioned the bus that kills everyone testing positive yet so I guess I have too  :P
.

Make sure you have clean pants on when you get hit by the bus.
Best advice I can offer..😄
Thanks  ;D
I tend to avoid walking in front of busses though  ;)
I've done several LFTs ,all negative  :) but if the LFT is wrong then that bus could kill me and make me part of the daily death figures  :o

I stopped going to work in March 2020 as I am diabetic, retired in June 2020 not even had a cold since then & every test I've done has been negative so just lucky I guess.

You could say any number you like & you can also believe anything you like so in reality it's all boll ocks. Who could actually be sure ?

The 17,000 figure came from the Office of National Statistics after a freedom of information request, so it's probably reasonable to take it at face value.

And that's the problem... The whole system is at a virtual standstill because people can't be bothered to get out of bed to go to work.

The rules changed for self certification due to illness ; 7 days became 28 days for a self sick note & the usual piss takers at work lapped it up   ::)

  https://www.gov.uk/taking-sick-leave

This is a  temporary measure & put in place so that surgeries can get the booster shots done

I`ve since heard that this will end towards the end of January.
One of these boys has already called in to say he  wants light duties only when he returns next Monday  :-*

It was reported on GB News yesterday and the figure they quoted was 17,000 who died from Covid and had no other health issues.

Didn't see it reported on the BBC::)

Not much about Beijing Barry either..... :)

5 straight days on George Floyd though including all 3 of his funerals. ;D

127,704 is the discrepancy number against the five year average. And the average age of those who died solely from TCV is 82, which is towards the upper end of UK life expectancy.

The average age of 82 is very similar to the normal average life expectancy. However, this is a bad thing. What it means is that the number of people who died only of Covid matches the normal distribution of UK deaths - which means that whatever your age is, your risk of dying only of Covid is increased by a similar amount.

It's also not "towards the upper end of UK life expectancy" since life expectancy is itself an average. Therefore as many people live to be older than 82 as die before 82.

IMV the 127K figure is as close as we're going to get to a true value for those who have died either of or because of Covid. If you have heart problems then that will likely be on your death certficate when you finally kick the bucket, but if well managed you may live for an extra 20-30 years. However, catch a respiratory diesese such as Covid and the extra stress on your heart and lungs could do for you fairly rapidly.
I agree. When the inevitable public inquiry takes place, there will no doubt be stupid, unanswerable questions like 'How many lives were saved by locking down?'.
Who cares? It was/is a nasty virus that is responsible for a lot of deaths and those of us who have come through unscathed should be thankful, whether it's down to personal responsibility or just plain luck.

Not sure it has much to do with luck.

The primary reason more than 99% off people survive is because it really isn't as deadly as we were told. We have been duped.

Caution, yes.....much like trying not to catch a cold or flu. :y

'End of the world hysteria'......I'll leave that for teenage vegan girls. :)

Can you imagine the uproar and outrage if it emerged that Jacob Rees Mogg had taken half a mill from a Chinese spy!  ::)  :D

I wonder if his " heartbroken" brother who appeared on TV has had his share of the compensation yet ? Allegedly runs into millions he will be able to expand his drug dealing enterprise way across the USA.

I got fed up with seeing all sorts of numbers. "With" or "Of" Covid etc.
I looked at TOTAL registered deaths regardless of cause 2011 to 2021, and took into account estimated population increase. Just England and Wales, sourced from ONS

To cut a long story short, (I can't be arsed to upload a screen of the spreadsheet)

% of population that die each year was around .86% from 2011 to 2019
% of population that died in 2020 was 1.02% (no numbers yet for December 2021)
In actual numbers, 9 year average 2011 to 2019 was 515,168
2020 was 607,019

So, not near the 150K claimed by the doom mongers, but still quite a few. And, deaths will have increased due to lack of treatment by NHS to some extent.

.....and maybe we should also take into account the reduction in "travelling" accidents due to many not going into offices and stuck at home during the real lock down 1. ;)

PS just lifted this from an official Government Report for 2020:
"Headline figures
an estimated 1,460 reported road deaths in 2020 which includes a total of 4 months of national lockdown (April to June and November)
an estimated 23,529 killed or seriously injured (KSI) casualties in 2020, a decrease of 22% compared to the same period in 2019
115,584 casualties of all severities in 2020, down by 25% from 2019
the reduction in road traffic followed a similar trend in the same period and decreased by 21%
pedal cyclist casualty rates per billion vehicle miles saw the greatest percentage decrease (34%) compared to all other road user types
"

Interesting! :D ;)
