Listed The Barge for sale on Tinterwebs...

And had a few odds and ends turn up for the Alabama Mumsybus... This time next week I will hopefully have a jack and wheel brace and trims for the driver's seat mounting (presumably disappeared when the battery was replaced ::))

Also positively identified the source of a slight fuel leak at the filter, so need to get those bits ordered...

No surprise that it hasn't been changed before... the first four services (upto 63k/4 years) were main dealer ::) but it should make it easier to start. Currently you have to cycle the key a couple of times to knock the air out of the lines, much like the leak off pipes leaking, but they're all sound and the filter is wet on top with the two hoses past their best, so hopefully an easy fix... :-\

Ended up putting my lads Honda Teg back together so it can be moved out my unit, its been in there 2 years and he spent a day taking the front suspension off and started to get the engine out . He has not touched it since and I refused to work on it for him unless he was there to help. Got pissed off as need the space so its now ready to move only to get told "I have no where to put it and cant afford storage" so looks like it will end up on the side of the road--------Bloody kids!!!!

Finally got Pierre back on the road. New turbo fitted a few weeks ago, but leak from cam seal was a problem that even a new seal didnt cure.
Decided to go with a last ditch bodge. The seal sits in a recess so knocked the old seal back in, in front of the new one, with a smear of blue Hylomar for good measure.
It seems to have done the trick, but we shall see.

Finally have a complete tool kit, so if I get a puncture, I'll have half a chance to get home. That said, I doubt the pop up spare has ever been inflated, so the next tyres may well be run flats... You know, just in case...  :D

Doubt it. Just drive it for a few miles, then ran my hand down the back of the engine and got fresh oil on it. Im hoping its just a minor leak rather than pissing out. If it is I will run it until MOT time near the end of the year and then probably scrap it.
If its still a major leak its days are probably numbered - in single figures.
I really have had enough of the bloody thing now.
Problem is - if it needs to be replaced the only realistic option is to get rid of the Boxster to fund it, and I dont want to do that yet.
Maybe next summer, but not this year.  :(

Just made and welded in a new bumper mount at the rear. Since the old one was made of iron oxide and wishes.

Wouldn't have had a clue how to do it if not for Addy's gentle teaching and endless patience over the last couple of years.

Having invested in a new welder I'm now thinking there isn't going to be anything left in the house without some frivolous bracketry welded to it...

Yeah, we will wait.
It takes ages so if you do ever need to use it, make that the first thing you do.

The money saved by not repairing it will buy alot of petrol and someone will give you enough for it to pay for two months worth to get you started...  ;)

Spent £500 on it in the last 3 months. :(
Using the Omega for work instead costs an extra £85 per month in fuel. Although taking clit tax / insurance / MOT costs into account thats probably nearer £70 I suppose. Plus, If I start using the Omega as my daily, things will start to wear out / go wrong with it.
It has 193000 on the clock, although well maintained and plenty of parts replaced. Still an old high mileage car though.
Even if I sold the Boxster for say £3000, and bought a commuting car, it could easily turn out to be a heap of shite.
No guarantee of a good car for that kind of money these days.
If I do scrap it I will pull the new turbo, new injector and cat off first and flog them separately.
Seems crazy for the sake of not being able to get a cam seal to do its job, but Im running out of ideas.
Breather system has all been thoroughly cleaned so it shouldnt be that.
Possibly worn / stuck rings ?
