The dog seems unimpressed  :D

That's obviously effort, but it's only 11ish bolts, two nuts and a spring clip to do it that way :y

And several cups of tea.

And some swearing. Mainly as I'm a fat gir and it takes me forever to get in underneath, where I realise the tool I need is still in the box ..

;D I know exactly what you mean...

Pulling the box out by itself is a bit of a bastard on the drive, so fair play for going the one hit route.  :y

When it comes to it, I need to do a few seals and gaskets on the engine, the subframe is very scabby and now I've found the chassis rails are made of fresh air and grommets. I love the car so I'd rather do everything properly once.

First job is to paint the crank pulley. It's a bit mucky and rusty

Discovered that Doctor G was right  ::), Bilstein B8s are too stiff for modern country roads, what's left of them...should be fun on the track though. :y

Managed to get a MOT pass on the wife's Renault. Not bad for a 23 year old car and with no advisories  :y

You do realise that to some on here, me included, that using the word 'Renault' is tantamount to swearing. ;) ;D

Speaking of Renaults - I fitted the new turbo to mine today and reassembled everything.
Started it up and all good on that side of things. Running quite nicely - apart from oil pissing out high up on the cambelt end of the engine.
I suspect the cam seal has let go. Same thing happened a year ago when the original turbo died, and I replaced it with a second hand one.
If the turbo isnt spinning I assume the oil getting pumped to it doesnt drain very quickly and results in excessive oil pressure which causes the oil to find the weakest link so it can escape.
Its a complete PITFA.  >:( :'(

Had two deliveries today... The oil to change the contents of the front and rear diffs, and the oil and filter for the engine.

Engine last done at the MoT last year, about 3k miles ago... Figure if I drain it every 5k, then every 20k it can get whatever service it thinks it is due (next being at 120k, currently at 105k and change.

Maybe your PCV is defective and that’s why your turbo went again?

Ive dismantled and cleaned it and didnt see anything wrong with it. It is possible though.  :-\
Issue with the turbo was a huge amount of movement in the shaft. Seals didnt let go, so at least it didnt dump the contents of the sump out  the exhaust.
