Omega General Help / A smell of petrol

Whatever next!
I've started to detect a smell of fuel in the cabin when stopping or making sharp turns (at low speed). Today it was quite obvious (before, I'd assumed it was someone in front). The MID display is about right - when warmed on idle ~0.2g/? with the AC off. Fuel consumption has been a tad high on the MID for a while (but short journeys, winter etc). Nothing obviously leaking about the engine bay although on idle I can smell just a whiff of petrol. No EML when running. No running or starting problems. The boot area smells clean - no fuel there. The interior fan is normally on at least a little. I gave it a little 'testing' this afternoon, all sound pretty good and plenty of 'load' without any problems or daft fat spots (that I noticed anyway).
Any thoughts? Is there some pressure test I can carry out. Only significant work done recently is cam belt (a while back - don't think thats it) and wishbones (twice - they did the wrong bushes) - and geometery alignment. I don't drive the car often, but it seems to be getting worse/more frequent.
