My new ebay purchase
« on: 03 December 2006, 21:08:45 »

I have just purchased an ECU, key transponder, and immobilser unit, all from a 2.0 litre Vectra, for the project 2.0. Parts cost me £10, unfortunately same again for postage.

But at least I'll know I've got a good working set of these components. If this fails to resolve it, it must be wiring rather than ECU, so if this happens I'm also going to swap over the engine management loom with the one from the Donor car.

If that fails, then it's back to the petrol and matches idea ;D

Well, I must admit, there are times at the moment I feel like giving up. Big time. If the car wasn't so immaculate and tidy, with such low mileage, I would have scrapped it by now. But it's just too good to scrap.

I'm just reminding myself of Laidback/Mark/Jamie's comments - it's a case of discipline, remaining focused and not being a bull in a china shop - and it will probably turn out to be a simple solution! Not finding it easy at all, and the whether doesn't help one bit, but I'm trying.

Unfortunately now I need to await my new parts, and get a clear day to do the work, so it's not going to be immediate :(

I'm beginning to think the carb/dizzy conversion isn't a bad idea afterall - could get emissions down with LPG ;D

But in all seriousness, I want to keep it original and sort it out, and I WILL be posting, even if it's in 2010, to say that it's running!!!!!
