3.2 bottom end showing its ugly mug thru the sump!
« on: 05 May 2010, 23:05:42 »

did a deal on a "noisey" car, had it recovered to work, looked at it today, sounded like it was beyond shells, and needed a whole crank and bottom rebuild, so, moved it round a bit today, eventualy, with no assistance, it went BANG!

One of the rods is hanging out the bottom of the block, and the other part of it is out the side of the block!

having cleaned up the workshop floor, i spent 10 hours with a friend, stripping the estate bare.
So if anyone wants anything off a 3.2i police estate, we kept most the running gear, cats, box, engine (for top end), etc etc..

nice picture here:

Ooh! bugger!

bit beyond a "bit of effort" mate!

Hope you didn't pay too much for a breaker, I assume its not worth fitting a s/h lump in it?

Oh dear not good.

If you were in the States we can get the 3.2L for about 1000USD in new condition off the assembly line ready for bolt on...

nice, over here you can get one from a scrap yard if you are lucky, but they usualy want about 800 quid, very rare engine to find.
lots of other people want them to put into their vauxhall cars and vans "retro fit".
If i was in the states, i would get a ls1 GM v8 and put that old girl in!

Must be stockpiled then as every single 54 degree V6 was made at Ellesmere Port over here in the UK then shipped to whichever plant required them ie. Russelheim for Omega / Catera.
