Title: Omega A R25 Hydraulic or Cable
Post by: AndyManta on 01 November 2017, 07:13:38
Hi

I'm building an Opel Manta A with my brother. We have a C20XE motor and an R25 omega, GM 90335693 0822680, that we found.

Is this model a cable or hydraulically actuated clutch?

Any knowledge or advice on pairing this combination would also be most welcome. I heard I need to place a spacer between the clutch fork and bearing..?

^ Does this spacer fit when converting from Z22XE double mass flywheel+clutch assembly to singe mass flywheel+clutch assembly from Vectra/Omega A?

Or is it better to make spacer between slave cylinder and release bearing?

I'm not entirely sure the R25 is hydraulic, thought it was the hybrid R25/28 or the R28 that were the hydraulic versions

Think the R25 was standard on the GSI 12v with the R25/28 going on the 2.6 versions and the R28 on the GSI 12v.

If the above is correct then I think the R25 is a cable operated, I might be wrong and stand to be corrected.

All omega clutches are hydraulic, small pipe from brake reservoir feeds the slave/release bearing.

He’s asking about Omega A (Carlton in uk i believe). And im pretty shure that had a clutch cable. At least on the four cylinders.

The R25 was fitted to all models apart from the 3.0 24v which was fitted with the R28 according to the Haynes manual, the R28 was hydraulic so I`m assuming the R25 was cable operated from the clutch.

Yep, that is correct, the R25 from the Omega A (Carlton) was cable operated.
However along with the R28 there was also the hybrid R25/28 both of these were hydraulic. The hybrid R25/28 was used on the smaller 6 pot models the 2.6 12v.
