Omega General Help / omega idling problem

hello, what would be wrong with my omega 2.0 8 valve, sometimes when the car has been idling for around 15 min, the revs suddenly drop and jump between 500-0 for a few seconds and then the car shuts down. when i try to start the car again, it cranks but doesnt start. however it does restart when it is jump started or given some kind of auxiliary power.  thanks in advance

hello all! I have a Opel Omega 2.0 GL Caravan that has been in my family since 2009, and over the years it has went from a nearly factory condition Omega to a heap of rust. This summer i will do a "bit" of bodywork in it and some general improving. I will put pictures of the car soon
