General Discussion Area / In profit 😄
« on: 05 September 2021, 11:14:29 »
Had the grandkids for the weekend as their parents are in London for a few days , they wanted a Chinese last night so had a really good blowout for £52.00 & then woke up to an email from the lottery that I had won £96.00 for three numbers as it was a multiple rollover 😄

Got quite a collection of toy cars some are mine from when I was a kid & some I've purchased over the years, I have a model of virtually every car I've owned from the Austin A40 to the RRS , been after an Omega for ages but the ones on offer were in poor condition or good but at a ridiculous price, saw a Mirrormax model on the bay brand new & boxed for £5.00 or best offer + postage offered £3.33 received a counteroffer of £4.00 agreed at £3.65 . Okay it's in Police livery but mint & boxed 😄

General Car Chat / Slight loss of performance
« on: 18 August 2021, 11:02:11 »
Picked the RRS up this morning after its MOT & service I had noticed a slight loss of performance on kickdown turns out to be down to a split turbo boost pipe ,which has been replaced also had the aircon regassed, apparently the MOT tester remarked how clean & tidy the Range Rover is , my indie only uses genuine LR parts so all filters & oils & MOT came to £616 Inc vat, so for a years motoring on one of these I think that's pretty reasonable.👍

Did anyone on here see the WW2 Pilot on breakfast TV  this morning ? What a remarkable man & still public speaking at 100 years of age.

General Car Chat / Home sweet home.
« on: 30 June 2021, 18:50:04 »
Got back from Devon this afternoon beautiful drive back all  in all covered just under 1200 miles in the RRS some with the caravan & some solo used around 225 litres of diesel , so my maths makes that an average of 24mpg, and it didn't miss a beat. Always nice to get back in the king-size bed back home though, going to have a few days in Norfolk next week BBQ & drinks outdoors can't beat it.😁

General Discussion Area / Castle Drogo Devon.
« on: 23 June 2021, 11:15:59 »
Went for a drive out yesterday didn't go in the "Castle" but for a walk in the grounds for several miles around it, absolutely stunning views + the weather was glorious. Apparently constructed in the late 1930s early 1940s by the chap who started the Home & Colonial business, approach roads/lanes extremely narrow but worth a visit definitely.

General Car Chat / Range Rover insurance renewal.
« on: 14 June 2021, 09:13:36 »
Been a lot of talk on the Range Rover forum about ridiculous hikes on insurance premiums due to all models & years of Land Rovers being stolen some companies are even refusing cover on them, I knew mine was coming up for renewal with LV so quite surprised this morning last year £320 renewal this year £285, so happy with that ..😁

General Discussion Area / Trooping the colour

Just watching the highlights on BBC2  so impressive makes me proud to have served Her Majesty, just such a damn shame what is happening to the UK.

General Discussion Area / Motorpoint.
« on: 07 June 2021, 18:31:54 »
SWMBO is still mentioning "The cute Toyota Aygo" so checked motorpoint out, a few on there between 7-8k had the Subaru valued by them £1450 not bad for an 05 plate which I paid £2800 for 4 years ago but I would probably sell it privately for £2000 full history garaged from new totally immaculate , the Aygos have between 7-14,000 miles on the clock , I may go & have a browse with her.

General Discussion Area / My next door neighbour has a new toy.
« on: 05 June 2021, 16:00:03 »
My neighbour has just got himself a Triumph Rocket 3 motorcycle, I know absolutely nothing about bikes but have to say this machine looks & sounds fabulous 2500cc seems insane but I think it's a work of art.

General Discussion Area / Dentist again.
« on: 08 May 2021, 11:57:25 »
Two more teeth out this morning, found this brilliant new Dentist virtually on our doorstep , a really nice down to earth young chap. I really didn't feel a thing even the injections were pain free & no feeling of having done 10 rounds with Smokey Joe Frazier, payment was the best part though I went to the counter expecting to part with a few quid but apparently the £65 I paid a few weeks back covered all my treatment ! What a bargain 😁

General Discussion Area / Barclaycard.
« on: 03 May 2021, 09:55:22 »
Anyone else on here had their credit limit reduced by Barclaycard? Mine was £11,000 reduced ten days ago to £250 not even enough to fill the Range Rover twice, apparently this has happened to thousands of their customers . You can apparently appeal and give them all your income details bloody cheek ! So I contacted Nationwide who we also bank with card arrived within 48 hours and immediate £10,000 limit, I always pay my card in full every month no valid reason from Barclaycard for credit reduction perhaps because they were not making any money from me.😃
