No no definitely no.
« on: 08 November 2021, 17:27:53 »

Wifey fancies a soft top motor don't ask me why ! She found a 2001 MGF one owner from new with 7,900 miles at a classic car specialist in Peterborough , wanted to go & view it this afternoon , I stuck to my guns definitely out of the question if it had been the Honda S2000 they also have I may have been tempted.

S2000 is a very quick car, 0-60 in just over 6 seconds. Are you sure?  ;D

I've always fancied one of them but she didn't like the colour !(yellow) but in all honesty I don't think I'd fit in one.

And just as twitchy as the MGF. Or a Porsche.

A good MGF is an excellent choice for a sportscar. Especially if you find an MX5 a bit cramped :y

Didn't Lord Opti buy a 2 seater soft top of some description a while back for the long suffering Mrs Opti?  ???  :-\

I don't think it lasted long and he must have had a guilty conscience to have bought it in the first place!  ;D

Anything you want to tell us Mick?  ???  :D

A few years back a colleague had an MGF he had so many problems with it he almost went insane ! That's what made me say no to her.

Not guilty of any misdoings 😄 We've had 3 sometimes 4 vehicles in the past & now we do hardly any mileage can't see the point really.

Everyone will tell you that the K series eats head gaskets, but I think that wasn't really true. Not on the ones I owned, anyway.

That boils, no pun intended, down to the lack of coolant capacity... The Omega can afford to lose a few litres before it cooks. The K series barely holds a gallon, so even a minor leak, if unnoticed doesn't take very long to kill it. At speed, once the gauge rises and the light comes on, it's pretty much done. :-\

That's the first thing that went through my mind, but I know there is a conversion kit to avoid this, but really don't want the hassle.

Daughter bought one new, and at about 20k and 4 years it had all sorts of issues with the coolant system. Having spent hours repairing it, I wouldn’t touch one.

It seems the consensus is: why bother with it if you don't have to?
As you were, Mick, S2000 it is  ;D
