Given the various flavours of people at work it's not surprising that the subject pops up, but by and large the majority of people will call a spade a spade (or worse) without blinking and think that the whole thing is a load of 'dangle berries'... however there's a minority of kids that are so up their own arses entitled and think the world will end because someone deigns to think and speak differently to their misguided self centeredness. These are the motivation for prevalence of vomit inducing wokeity.

Draining any water out of it would be a good start, but allow for filtering any biomass out of it. Diesel bug is a real thing and will kill pumps and injectors before you can say Oops.

There's no change at the motor when the switch is actuated up or down... Zero voltage and continuous circuit between + and - :-\

True enough, thinking about it, I have only owned two cars with manual front windows... A 1985 Sierra L and a 1988 VW Polo.

And only 6 cars with manual rear windows... The problem with modern cars is that everything runs off a network of boxes rather than old school mechanical switches, fuses and relays. Downsizing in the name of progress :-X

Managed to get two of the screws undone. Turns out they're actually E10 torx. The garage can fight the other two as they have a bracket stuck over them making it almost impossible to get a decent purchase on them so rather than round them off I have soaked them in oil and let them be.

Also started to investigate why the rear windows don't work. Some basic poking got the motors out and established that the motor physically turns freely and its gearbox moves without issue, as do the regulators... I did wonder if the windows had stuck in the frames, but the regulators move without issue if you manually move the windows, so frames lubed with PTFE spray.

Electrically, the switches work but there's something amiss in the door ECUs as there is a short between the two power feeds to the motor regardless of switch position which suggests a fault within the door ECUs as they contain relays  that supply the motor rather than a software issue.

Unfortunately, the strut attached to them and is secured by grub screws which are prone to seizing.in place.

Clearly a Friday afternoon in Sindelfingen when someone decided that was a good idea. :D
Well, they used the same system on the W220 and at least the W221 uses an external hex head instead of an Allen one :-X

To your last, yes if it has trees growing in it or has partially collapsed/rotted away ;D

If it does, its likely that Putin will then carry on into other countries, hoping to rebuild his beloved USSR.
He'll be dead long before that ever happens.

Leave them to it. Ukraine will eventually become two places.
