I'm not the biggest fan of Farage, and even less a fan of the banks in general but......

WTF is Coutts playing at by stating that Nigel Farage does not align with their values.

Since when did banks become the moral guardians of all that is right and good?

Banks are private buisneses, and free to decide who they want to deal with, and who they don't. Obviously they've decided they don't want Farage, either due to pressure from other (more valued) customers, or some internal management choice.

Coutts won't deal with me either - although in my case it's because I'm skint :-)

He is just the tip of the iceberg. It has happened to a lot of people, most of whom arent in the public eye.
Its not just Coutts. He applied to seven other UK banks and all of them refused to let him open an account.
Since it went public he has been inundated with messages from ordinary members of the public who have had the same thing happen to them.
It seems the one thing they had in common is that they had posted anti Liberal woke stuff on the internet.
It could happen to most of us because of what we have posted on OOF.
Coutts lied to the BBC saying what they did to Farage was purely because he hadnt enough funds in his account.
Farage excercised his legal right to see his file and it said they were getting rid of him because hes a racist who supports Trump and anti vac tennis player Djokovic.
Paypal have also done the same to Toby Young.

I imagine that Coutts ( like most banks) are pretty relaxed about money laundering and pretend not to notice. However, somebody who voted Brexit and believes immigration is too high is seen as an undesirable bigot.

Nigel need to wrap himself in a rainbow pride flag and then perhaps all will be forgiven.

And, when you think about it, this would definitely make you think twice about what you posted online if you are a public figure or high profile footballist/actor/author/newspaper columnist/ etc.
What we need, of course, is a party in power that represents the silent majority, not the shouty few. But if you tried to form such a party, you would find yourself without any money due to the withdrawal of banking services.
