Climate change, oil and gas, etc
« on: 31 July 2023, 13:20:01 »

I am sick and tired of hearing ecomentalists going on about how the world will end if we don't hit 'net zero' by 2050. It's utter shite in the context of this small island. Tony Blair, of all people, came out with a startling fact at the weekend: Last year, China released more CO2 into the atmosphere than the UK has since the start of the Industrial Revolution. WTF should we have to bear the brunt of higher fuel bills, compulsory heat pumps, clean air zone charges and those damned EV's when the most polluting countries just carry on as normal?

The trouble now Steve, is that anyone who challenges the 'we're doomed agenda' is immediately vilified as a climate change denier. Yes, weather patterns are changing and maybe our use of fossil fuels is perhaps contributing to it in some small way. Earth over the millions of years has always had seismic changes with ice ages and thaws and these changes are probably part of the cycle. As you alluded to, we in Britain make very little contributions to the pollution compared to the likes of China, US, India, Australia etc. I just wish that these activists who keep trying to order us what to do would sod off over to these bigger polluting countries and find out how their protests are received there.  :)

Yes me too. Carbon dioxide makes up 400 parts per million of the atmosphere, which sounds scarier than 0.04% and man made CO2 is apparently a small percentage of that 0.04% as well......  ::)

Dear Rishi has today announced the Govt will issue a load of new North Sea exploration licences for oil and gas, along with analysis that domestically produced gas causes a quarter of the emissions of imported LNG.

Cue hysteria from the Lefty/Greenie hate mob, but at least he's trying to open up a gap between the Tories and Labour. That's something.  :-X

Yes Steve, I'm also thoroughly fed up of hearing all these nonsensical figures & predictions of what's going to happen, it's fairly obvious to me that for some it's simply a license to print money. I realised years ago that nothing lasts forever, it makes me very angry when I see these for example " Stop oil" idiots being allowed to simply get away with their ridiculous antics.

Not much government support for the EV batteries and cars that you are having foisted onto you.

Other countries are at least supporting the transition.

Mankind is dim and doomed. We are still trying to make contact with aliens and we cannot even get on with ourselves.

He's very good that Konstantin fella!  :y

https://www.npr.org/2023/03/02/1160441919/china-is-building-six-times-more-new-coal-plants-than-other-countries-report-fin
And yet the ecomentalists keep insisting on using the per capita justification whilst conveniently ignoring the fact that much of the pollution from China stems from producing shit to foist on every one else.
