Wife's drivers door has turned Vauxhall pink, quite noticeable compared to front wing and rear door. Will a T Cut or wax bring it back, or is it gonna stay that way? Thanks.

Don't bother with T-cut as it's the WD40 of rubbing compounds.


Use a professional type product, like Farecla G3 or more modern equivalents. They are available in small quantities.


Try polishing a small are first, as if the finish is base and clear, you won't be able to polish the faded surface under the clear lacquer. But, that type of paint tends not to fade as mentioned.


Once you've restored the colour, apply your favourite polish frequently.


If only one panel is fading like this, it has almost certainly been repainted using a different system to the rest of the car

I had trouble with a large blue bottle that seemed impervious to fly killer spray. A quick squirt of WD 40 terminated him immediately. He dropped like a stone.

It's not uncommon for brand new vehicles to have panels repainted before being even registered or being purchased  from new. Damage occurring 'in transit' is the usual reason for repairs being carried to new vehicles.

It’s not a stupid question. Sun damage would affect a part panel (tops of wings for example) or several panels (roof/bonnet etc), not a whole panel such as a door,  but not affect the rest of the car. The only way that would happen is if the door is from another car,  or it has been repainted.

If it hasn't been repaired, (which I doubt )  then it's a paint defect, which will have had some sort of warranty from new. If the car is relatively new,  it may still be covered.

Also,  and let's assume for the sake of discussion,  if it were damaged and repaired during delivery,  then it should carry the same warranty as if it were new.

If the car was bought from VX, then the dealer should be able to confirm what paint warranty it had. Likewise, if it were a Network Q car.

You'd have a hell of a job convincing the dealer it has never been repainted in your ownership, a good buff with G3 then some polish with UV protection will sort it until you part ex it
