Is it possible to get an external ariel that fits to the window like you see on many cars? That way i don't have to drill any holes in a perfectly good roof panel :-/

Can't you replace the bee sting antenna in the roof - or don't you have one at all?

THere is one there but i thought this was for the phone, having said that my car has the cdr2005 so no phone wired in.

Would the beesting work with an aftermarket car/phone kit? :-?

Bosch and Hirschmann both make integrated aerials that will work with both GSM and FM

Also available in other variants to include GPS and TV

I have a glass mounted ariel on the rear window but that is for the DAB side of the radio but i have seen a adapter to convert these to normal ariel plugs. These ariels are not cheap though.

But the glass mounted aerials defeat the whole benefits of an external aerial though

A car is a faraday cage - why are you trying to put an aerial inside it ?

If using the original aerial location in the rear centre of the roof, then for a saloon, use a VW Golf aerial, and for the estate use the Audi A4 aerial
